BOSTON (AP) -David Krejci and Shawn Thornton scored third-period goals to lift the Boston Bruins to their 13th straight home victory, a 4-2 triumph over the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday .

Marc Savard and Stephane Yelle also scored for Boston, which won its fourth straight overall to extend the club's longest home winning streak in 32 years. The Bruins are 18-2-1 in their last 21 games, winning nine of their last 10.

Manny Fernandez made 32 saves and improved to 10-1-1 in his last 12 starts for Boston.

Joni Pitkanen opened the scoring on the Hurricanes' first-period power play and Ray Whitney added a goal 15:24 into the third period. Cam Ward stopped 32 shots for Carolina.

Patrice Bergeron left the game in the second period after a mid-ice collision with Carolina's Dennis Seidenberg.

With the game tied 1-1 in the third period, Krejci took a pass from Vladimir Sobotka and beat Ward for his 12th goal of the year. Sobotka got his first assist in seven games with the Bruins this season.

Thornton's second goal of the season, off a Joseph Corvo giveaway, gave the Bruins an insurance goal with 8:06 left, and the goal was needed when Whitney scored with 4:36 left. The Bruins then had to kill of a Carolina power play and Yelle hit the empty net with 2.2 seconds remaining.

The victory also snapped the Bruins' four-game home losing streak against the Hurricanes - Boston having gone 1-7-1 in the last nine home games against Carolina.

Phil Kessel and Milan Lucic combined to set up Savard for the center's 10th goal of the season.

Kessel has at least one point in 17 straight games, the longest streak by a Bruin since Adam Oates had a 20-gamer in 1997-98 and is tied with Raymond Bourque (1984-85) for the fifth-longest in club history. He has 14 goals and 12 assists during the streak.

Rod Brind'Amour assisted on both goals for the Hurricanes, who had secured at least a point in six straight games (3-0-3) and were 3-1-3 since re-hiring Paul Maurice as coach. Carolina took their 1-0 lead when Joni Pitkanen sent a power play pass from Brind'Amour past Manny Fernandez 4:50 into the game.

Notes: Lucic extended his points streak to six games. ... Kessel had what would have been the tying goal waived off because he hit the puck with high stick. ... The Bruins wore their third jerseys for the fourth time and have won all four. ... Brind'Amour, who had his 700th NHL assist Thursday night, has seven assists in a six-game point-scoring streak....The Bruins recalled center Martin St. Pierre from Providence of the American Hockey League.
