Boston 1, Ottawa 4: Final
Boston Bruins 1, Ottawa Senators 4
As Seen on NESN – The Ottawa Senators defeated the Boston Bruins, 4-1, in Tuesday night’s game at Scotiabank Place.  Senator Dany Heatley had a hat trick, including two goals in the second period, while Dennis Wideman scored the only goal for the Bruins.

The Black & Gold headed to Ottawa for their second on-the-road tilt of the week and their second in a row.
The Bruins were playing, once again, without their captain, Zdeno Chara.  However, the Sens were in the same position: Daniel Alfredsson was also out of the lineup for the night, suffering a back injury.
The B’s gained the man advantage early when Mike Commodore earned a penalty for interference at 2:19, and they gave the Ottawa penalty kill a workout, but the scoreboard remained empty.
The Sens got their chance at 8:26, when Marco Sturm entered the box on a hooking call, and Alex Auld was called upon to make some saves.  He kept Ottawa’s chances out of the net, and, with some help from the Black & Gold penalty kill, the score remained tied at zero.
Boston had a power play opportunity once more, as Christoph Schubert was called for hooking with 4:17 to go.
Anton Volchenkov sent Aaron Ward into the boards in front of the Ottawa bench with 2:27 remaining.  The Boston defenseman’s back was hyper-extending during contact and was down on the ice, crawling to the bench momentarily.  He made it to his feet, but he left the bench to make sure he was alright.
With a great save by Auld in the last minute of the period, the first 20 minutes of play ended with the score tied at nothing.

Ward was back on the ice to start the second period.

Both Auld and Sens goaltender Martin Gerber were tested early on in the period, and at 5:44, Heatley finally got a shot past Auld to score the first goal of the game and put Ottawa up 1-0.

But Auld made a key save on a breakaway shot with 13:02 left by Nick Foligno.

Dean McAmmond’s interference penalty earned the Black & Gold another chance on the man advantage, but a strong Ottawa penalty kill kept them at bay.

The teams continued to trade penalties, and at 10:39, Wideman entered the box for holding.

Heatley capitalized once more, scoring a power play goal, his second goal of the period, from the right face-off dot with 8:55 left in the second.

Jason Spezza served a penalty for too many men on the ice at 14:24.

Glen Murray buried the puck at 15:29 after Sturm was knocked into Gerber by Chris Phillips, but the goal was waved off because the whistle had already blown.

Andrew Ference garnered a penalty for high-sticking with 3:25 remaining, and Spezza used the advantage to score the Sens third goal at 17:18, ending the scoring for the period.

1:25 into the final 20 minutes, Volchenkov was called for interference, and the Black & Gold had their third chance of the night on the man advantage.

At 9:37, Spezza robbed Sturm of a potential goal when he used his stick to knock the Bruin’s shot out of the air and to the ice.  Spezza fell to the ice after the block and knocked the puck to the other side of the ice, away from Sturm.

With 2:26 to go, Wideman put the B’s on the scoreboard when a shot from the hash marks off a rebound from a shot by Savard made it past Gerber, as Commodore went flying over the goalie.

But when the Bruins pulled Auld in favor of a sixth player, Heatly made it a hat trick for the game and put Ottawa up 4-1 when he scored an empty-net goal with 36 seconds remaining.
