BOSTON (AP) - Jussi Jokinen figured Boston goalie Tim Thomas knew what to expect, so he gave him a completely different move.

Jokinen scored the only goal of the shootout to lift Dallas to a 2-1 victory over the Bruins on Saturday, the Stars' season-high sixth straight win.

Jokinen, a teammate of Thomas' in Finland four seasons ago before the pair played against each other last year, slid the puck across the crease before reaching back and tucking it into the net.

"Tim Thomas played in the same league as me last season, so I had to change something," said Jokinen, a perfect 5-for-5 in shootout chances this season. "On the bench before the shootout, I was talking to (backup goalie) Johan Hedberg and he said that I should try something new."

Jokinen said he's been working on the move in practice the past few weeks.

"Our goalies know my moves now," he said.

And so does Thomas.

"I didn't expect it because it's a difficult move to pull off," Thomas said. "You can look great like he did or you can look like an idiot. It's a great move."

Stars goalie Marty Turco made 26 stops before turning aside Patrice Bergeron, Marco Sturm and Sergei Samsonov in the shootout.

But it was Jokinen's goal that gained all the attention.

"That was a new move we saw today," Dallas coach Dave Tippett said. "He brought that one out of the closet."

Thomas, making his first start since April 5, 2003, made 37 saves before the shootout. The Stars improved to 5-0 in shootouts, while the Bruins dropped to 0-3.

"I thought we did a lot of good things, but it's discouraging to lose in a shootout," Boston coach Mike Sullivan said. "We played with good intensity and effort."

Dallas had a 1-0 lead after two shooters and Samsonov shot the puck into Turco's pads, ending the shootout.

"It's just another game we found a way to win," Turco said.

The Stars tied the game at 1 when Sergei Zubov completed a two-on-one break with Mike Modano 8:42 into the third period by firing a wrist shot inside the right post.

Samsonov broke in alone with 18 seconds left in OT, but Turco slid across for a right-pad save.

The Bruins took a 1-0 lead on Milan Jurcina's goal 6:05 into the second period. He collected a loose puck at the right point and fired a shot that caromed off Dallas forward Jason Arnott's stick, slipping by Turco inside the right post.

Jurcina also made a nice play late in the period when he chased down Brenden Morrow, breaking in alone, and forced a tough shot that Thomas came diving out to stop.

In the midst of a miserable week for Boston, Jurcina has been a bright spot, scoring five of the Bruins' last eight goals over four games.

In a free-flowing opening period, the Bruins looked much more inspired than Thursday night when they were blanked 6-0 by Los Angeles and left after the final horn to a chorus of boos.

Boston was coming off its two most lopsided home losses of the season, also losing 6-2 to San Jose on Tuesday.

Notes: Boston was without defenseman Brian Leetch (injured groin) and RW Glen Murray (bruised foot). ... The Stars had allowed the fewest shots on goal in the league entering Saturday's games. ... The Bruins are 2-4 on a seven-game homestand. ... Dallas has outscored opponents 12-1 in its last eight games.
