BOSTON (AP) -- An unlikely scoring source helped the Boston Bruins end a nine-game winless streak at home.

Shaone Morrisonn scored his first NHL goal and added an assist to lead the Bruins to a 3-2 victory Thursday night over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

"Shaone was pretty solid all over the rink," Bruins coach Mike Sullivan said. "He gave our offense a boost and it was a big lift for our team."

Felix Potvin preserved the victory when he robbed Tom Fitzgerald with a glove save with 29 seconds remaining. Potvin stopped 22 shots and won for the first time in Boston this season. He was 0-2-3 in his previous five appearances.

"The shot hit my glove and the crossbar, I don't know which came first," Potvin said. "This was nice, finally our luck is turning, we worked for our breaks and we deserved this win."

Morrisonn scored his first NHL goal for Boston, 0-5-4 during its winless streak.

Toronto is 0-2-1 since earning at least one point in a team-record 16 straight games.

"That's just not the way our club should be playing, and we had better shape it up," Maple Leafs coach Pat Quinn said. "We're hopers right now. We hope everything goes our way."

Gary Roberts cut Toronto's deficit to 3-2 with a power-play goal at 10:58 of the third period when he redirected Ken Klee's shot from the point over Potvin's shoulder. The Bruins had killed off 41 of their previous 42 short-handed situations.

"Even though we came close, we still have a long way to go," Maple Leafs captain Mats Sundin said. "When you're not playing well, the bounces don't go your way."

Morrisonn gave the Bruins a 1-0 lead when he took a drop pass from Martin Lapointe and beat Ed Belfour with 1:04 remaining in the first period.

Matt Stajan tied it 1-1 for the Maple Leafs when his pass from behind the net deflected off the right skate of Morrisonn and went through the legs of Potvin at 2:48 of the second.

"In the past we might have been fragile," Bruins captain Joe Thornton said. "But tonight we kept our eye on the prize."

Patrice Bergeron and Nick Boynton scored 4:41 apart midway through the second period to give Boston a 3-1 lead. Bergeron wristed a shot past Belfour from the slot, and Boynton capped off the scoring at 14:14 when he knocked in his own rebound. Bergeron is second in rookie scoring with 22 points.

Boston outshot Toronto 15-3 in the first period despite Bruins defenseman Dan McGillis receiving a game misconduct and major penalty for checking Alexei Ponikarovsky from behind.

Doug Doull earned his first NHL point by assisting on Morrisonn's goal. The Bruins have scored 13 times in their last nine games.

Belfour made 38 saves for Toronto.
