About The Black Dog
The Black Dog has always had an interest in the strong bond between people and their canine companions. The Black Dog has proudly chosen to partner with select organizations, including NEADS, who share the same love for dogs, their welfare and the rewarding experience of being a dog owner. Black Dog General Stores partner with local animal shelters during March and September to bring adoptable dogs to our stores to find their potential forever homes. A portion of our proceeds during these months raise funds for our partnering shelters and over 50 dogs have been adopted in the past year through these efforts.
The MSPCA-Angell is a national and international leader in animal protection and veterinary medicine and provides direct hands-on care for thousands of animals each year. Founded in 1868, it is the second-oldest humane society in the United States. Services include animal protection and adoption, advocacy, humane education, law enforcement, and world-class veterinary care. The MSPCA-Angell is a private, non-profit organization. It does not receive any government funding nor is it funded or operated by any national humane organization.
NEADS mission is to provide independence to people who are Deaf or have a disability through the use of canine assistance. NEADS (National Education for Assistance Dog Services, also known as Dogs for Deaf and Disabled Americans), is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was established in 1976. Our assistance dogs become an extension of their handlers and bring freedom, physical autonomy and relief from social isolation to their human partners.
