Wayne Smith
Director of Amateur Scouting

Smith
Wayne Smith is in his sixth season in the Bruins organization, his fourth as the team’s Director of Amateur Scouting. Smith oversees the efforts of the team’s amateur scouting staff in addition to scouting those North American and European players eligible for the annual NHL Entry Draft.

Smith has spent the past four seasons with Boston based out of Ontario. He covered amateur players throughout the hockey world in his first season with the team and then assumed the position of Head Scout in 2007, and continues scouting all amateur prospects worldwide.

After finishing a playing career that included stops with the NCAA’s Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs and the OHL’s London Knights, Smith joined the Kingston Frontenacs first as a scout and then as their Director of Scouting before finally becoming Director of Player Personnel.

Smith came to the Bruins organization following seven seasons as a crossover scout for the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Smith and his wife Trudy live in Nepean, Ontario with their daughter Madison.
