B\'s Sign Krejci to a Six-Year Contract Extension Through the 2020-21 Season

BOSTON, MA – Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today, September 4, that the club has signed forward David Krejci to a six-year extension through the 2020-21 season. Krejci’s salary is worth an annual cap figure of $7,250,000.

Krejci led the B’s in scoring in the 2013-14 campaign with 69 points winning his first team scoring title while posting 19 goals (sixth on the team) and 50 assists (first on the team, ninth in the NHL) while accruing an NHL best plus 39-rating. Krejci also finished the 2008-09 season with the league’s best +/- with a plus-37 rating. The centerman had a season-best seven-game point streak last season, spanning from October 12 to October 26, 2013, which saw him register two goals and 10 assists. In 80 contests, the 28-year-old notched 18 multi-point games, bringing his career total up to 98 multi-point games. Krejci also registered his third career regular season hat trick against the Florida Panthers on March 4, 2014 at TD Garden, giving him five total NHL hat tricks with the other two coming in the playoffs.

In total, the pivot has skated in 504 NHL games – all with Boston – amassing 110 goals and 268 assists for 378 points with a combined plus-97 rating. In seven postseasons with Boston spanning from 2008-14, Krejci has played in 93 games notching 29 goals and 48 assists for 77 points with a plus-28 rating. In two of the last four playoffs, Krejci has led postseason scoring with 23 points in 2011 (12 goals, 11 assists) and 26 points (nine goals, 17 assists) in 2013.  His 12 goals in 2011 were the most ever in one playoff year by a Czech player and tied Slovakian Marian Gaborik’s 2008 mark for a Czechoslovakian born player.

Krejci was a member of the Black & Gold’s 2011 Stanley Cup Championship team, playing in all 25 games while registering a team leading 12 goals and 23 points.

The Sternberk, Czech Republic native checks in at 6’0”, 188 pounds and was drafted by the Boston Bruins in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft in the second round (63rd overall).
