Bruins Recall Fraser and Assign Florek
Fraser appeared in 14 games for Boston this season, tallying two goals, both of which came on the road (1/9 at LAK, 12/23 at NSH). In his first regular season with Providence, Fraser finished the 2013-14 campaign with 20 goals (tied for third on the team) and 10 assists for 30 points in 44 appearances. In five playoff games for the P-Bruins, the winger has recorded three goals (tied for first on the team), including an OT game-winner against the Springfield Falcons on April 25 in Game 2 of their AHL first round playoff series. Fraser has also chipped in two assists thus far for the P-Bruins, giving him five points which is tied for second on the team.
Fraser spent two seasons (2011-2013) with the Texas Stars (American Hockey League) with the Dallas Stars organization, recording 70 goals and 31 assists for 101 points.
The forward appeared in a total of 13 NHL games with the Dallas Stars earning a goal and two assists before joining the Bruins organization.
The Bruins acquired the 23-year-old Fraser on July 4, 2013 along with Loui Eriksson, Joe Morrow and Reilly Smith in exchange for Tyler Seguin, Rich Peverley and Ryan Button. The 6'1'', 205-pound winger hails from Red Deer, Alberta.
Florek skated in six postseason games for Boston, where he notched his first NHL playoff goal against the Detroit Red Wings on April 20 in the B's 4-1 victory.
Florek played in four games for Boston during the 2013-14 regular season, including his NHL debut against the Winnipeg Jets in Boston on January 4. The winger notched his first career NHL goal on January 9 against the Kings in Los Angeles and his first NHL assist on January 7 against the Ducks in Anaheim.
The winger appeared in 69 games this season with Providence, registering 19 goals and 19 assists for 38 points with a plus-17 rating. In total, the 23-year-old forward has skated in 148 AHL games with the Providence Bruins (2012-14), accruing 32 goals and 37 assists with a combined plus-32 rating.
Prior to joining the Providence Bruins, Florek played for four seasons (2008-12) at Northern Michigan University. The 6'4'', 199-pound native of Marquette, MI was drafted by Boston in the fifth round (135th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
