Boston Bruins Recall Forward Justin Florek from Providence on an Emergency Basis

BOSTON, MA - Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today, April 15, that the club has recalled forward Justin Florek from Providence (American Hockey League) on an emergency basis. Florek will join the team for Tuesday's 11:00 a.m. practice at TD Garden.

Florek has skated in four games for Boston this season, including his NHL debut against the Winnipeg Jets in Boston on January 4. The winger notched his first career NHL goal on January 9 against the Kings in Los Angeles and his first NHL assist on January 7 against the Ducks in Anaheim.

The winger has skated in 69 games this season with Providence, registering 19 goals (fourth on the team) and 19 assists for 38 points with a plus-17 rating (second on the team). In total, the 23-year-old forward has skated in 148 AHL games with the Providence Bruins (2012-14), accruing 32 goals and 37 assists with a combined plus-32 rating. In the 2013 AHL postseason, Florek appeared in 12 games for Providence and tallied 1-2=3 totals.

Prior to joining the Providence Bruins, Florek played for four seasons (2008-12) at Northern Michigan University, where he skated in 157 collegiate games, recording 53 goals and 63 assists. Florek was named captain of the Wildcats his senior season. The 6'4'', 199-pound native of Marquette, MI was drafted by Boston in the fifth round (135th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
