Bruins Assign Cunningham, Florek, Khokhlachev & Lindblad to Providence
BOSTON, MA - Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today, April 13, that the team has assigned forwards Craig Cunningham, Justin Florek, Alexander Khokhlachev, and Matt Lindblad to Providence (American Hockey League).
Cunningham has skated in two games for Boston this season, including his NHL debut on December 17 in Boston against the Calgary Flames. The forward has appeared in 73 games for Providence this season, and has tallied 25 goals (first on the team) and 22 assists for 47 points (third on the team). In total, the 23-year-old forward has skated in 224 AHL games with Providence from 2011 to 2014, accruing 70 goals and 59 assists for 129 points. The 5’9’’, 175-pound native of Trail, British Columbia was drafted by the Boston Bruins in the fourth round (97th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
Florek has skated in four games for Boston this season, notching one goal and one assist. The winger has skated in 69 games this season with Providence, registering 19 goals (fourth on the team) and 19 assists for 38 points with a plus-17 rating (second on the team). In total, the 23-year-old forward has skated in 148 AHL games with the Providence Bruins (2012-14), accruing 32 goals and 37 assists with a combined plus-66 rating. In the 2013 AHL postseason, Florek appeared in 12 games for Providence and tallied 1-2=3 totals. Prior to joining the Providence Bruins, Florek played for four seasons (2008-12) at Northern Michigan University, where he skated in 157 collegiate games, recording 53 goals and 63 assists. Florek was named captain of the Wildcats his senior season. The 6'4'', 199-pound native of Marquette, MI was drafted by Boston in the fifth round (135th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
Khokhlachev appeared in his first NHL game for the Bruins on April 13 in New Jersey where he registered two shots on goal. The forward has skated in 63 games for the Providence Bruins this season, recording 21 goals and 36 assists thus far this season for a current point total of 57 (first on the team). The Moscow, Russia native has skated in a total of 73 games with Providence from 2012-14 with totals of 23 goals and 37 assists for 60 points. Before joining the Providence Bruins, the center played for the Windsor Spitfires from 2010-13 and appeared in 152 games. While with the Spitfires, Khokhlachev racked up 81 goals and 112 assists for 193 points. The 20-year-old also played 26 games for the Moscow Spartak in 2012-13 and accrued two goals and five assists. The 5’10”, 172-pound forward was drafted by the Boston Bruins in the second round (40th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
Lindblad has skated in two games for Boston this year. The centerman has skated in 53 games this season for the Providence Bruins, tallying eight goals and 16 assists for 24 points. Prior to joining Providence, the 23-year-old skated three seasons (2010-13) for Dartmouth College. In 89 games for the Big Green, Lindblad racked up 29 goals and 51 assists for 80 points. Before Dartmouth, the centerman played in the United States Hockey League with the Sioux Falls Stampede (2009-10) and the Chicago Steel (2008-09). The forward skated in 57 games for the Stampede and he accrued 24 goals and 46 assists for 70 points. While with the Steel, the forward appeared in 51 games where he scored five goals and acquired 20 assists. The 5’11’’, 193-pound Winnetka, IL native was signed by Boston as a free agent on April 5, 2013.
