THIS WEEK’S NEWS, NOTES AND NUMBERS…

STATS & NOTES YOU MAY FIND INTERESTING…

TIME CHANGE FOR BRUINS/FLYERS: Please note that the game time for the Bruins vs. Flyers matchup on Sunday, March 30 in Philadelphia has been changed to a 12:30 p.m. ET start. The game will be televised on NBC.

JULIEN EARNS 300TH WIN: With the defeat of the Phoenix Coyotes on March 13, Head Coach Claude Julien recorded his 300th win as bench boss of the Boston Bruins. In total, Julien has compiled a 300-163-61 mark (.611 win percentage) behind the Bruins bench and recorded a career 419-249-10-84 (.611 win percentage) record in 762 NHL games coached.

IGINLA MAKING HISTORY:
On Sunday, March 9 against the Florida Panthers, Jarome Iginla recorded his 550th career goal. This mark puts him at number 26 on the all-time goal scoring list, only six goals behind former Bruin John Bucyk. Iginla recorded 525 goals with the Calgary Flames (1996-2013), five with the Pittsburgh Penguins (2012-13) and 21 thus far with the Bruins.

SUNSHINE STATE SUCCESS:
The Bruins have seen success in Florida the past two seasons against both the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Florida Panthers. After the wins against Tampa Bay on March 8 and Florida on March 9, the B’s completed a season sweep of both teams. This is the second consecutive time the Bruins have swept both Florida teams (2012-13) and have now progressed to a 15-0-0 record when playing the Lightning and the Panthers.

BERGERON SELKE RESUME: After earning the Selke Trophy in 2011-12 and being a finalist for the Selke in last year’s campaign, Patrice Bergeron has continued his strong two-way play into the 2013-14 season.  Often playing against the opposition’s top line and serving as one of the primary forwards on the PK, Bergeron enters the weekend tied for first in the NHL with a plus-32 rating (Matt Niskanen, Pittsburgh).  The centerman currently ranks second in the league in faceoff percentage at 59.1% and leads the league in faceoff wins with 847, ahead of Sidney Crosby who has 820.  The 28-year-old forward has had a 59.8% faceoff proficiency since the start of the 2011-12 season, which leads the NHL over the span.  Bergeron also ranks fifth on the Bruins in points (45) and fourth in goals (19).
