BOSTON BRUINS (39-17-5) vs. WASHINGTON CAPITALS (29-24-10)

9:25 p.m. - Third Period Snapshots: FINAL BOS 3, WSH 0

BRUINS CAPITALIZE: The Boston Bruins topped the Washington Capitals on Thrusday night by a score of 3-0 with Tuukka Rask earning his 22nd career shutout.  The Bruins got goals from Gregory Campbell's tip in, Loui Eriksson's top shelf wrister and Brad Marchand's empty netter to give the Black & Gold all the firepower they needed to earn two points.  The Bruins are back in action on Saturday as they head south for the first game on their back-to-back set in Florida beginning with the Panthers. Game time set for 7:00 p.m. ET.

8:23 p.m. - Second Period Snapshots: BOS 2, WSH 0

LOUI ROOFS ONE: Forward Loui Eriksson doubled the Bruins lead at 8:20 into the second period off of a feed from Soderberg who was battling hard behind net with a Washington player on his hip to get Eriksson the puck. Loui collected the pass just a few feet from the crease and roofed a sharp angle wrister past Holtby for his seventh goal of the season.  Soderberg picks up his 23rd assist on the play while Kevan Miller picks up the secondary helper for his third of the season.

SOUPY TIPS ONE HOME:
The Bruins garnered their first lead of the game when Patrice Bergeron fired a high-velocity slapshot from the left faceoff circle that Gregory Campbell was able to tip past Washington's Braden Holtby for his seventh goal of the season.  Bergeron earns his 23rd helper on the goal along with Matt Bartkowski who gets credited for his 13th of the year. The goal marks Campbell's fourth goal in his last four games played.

7:55 p.m. - FIrst Period Snapshots: BOS 0, WSH 0

BEST CHANCES:
The Bruins line composed of Patrice Bergeron, Reilly Smith and Brad Marchand have created the best scoring opportunities thus far tonight, with Bergeron leading the way with two shots on net.  Despite recording too many shots on the stat sheet, the line has distributed the puck to various high-percentage scoring areas but have come up just short on converting. The line has been among the best fo the Black & Gold thus far thus far.

STALEMATE THROUGH THE FIRST FRAME:
The Bruins and Capitals are tied at 0-0 through the first period of play. Entering tonight the B's have compiled a 18-5-4 record when even after the first period, while the Capitals have accrued a 12-7-4 mark while tied after the first period. 

RASK SINGLE SEASON HIGH:
Tuukka Rask is playing in his 46th game tonight which is his single season high (played 45 in 2009-10).  The first period saw solid play from Rask making all four stops to keep the Capitals at bay.

6:30 p.m. - Pregame Snapshots: BOS vs WSH


STARTING GOALTENDERS: Rask (26-14-4, 2.18 GAA, .927 Save %) vs. Holtby (19-13-3, 3.01 GAA, .909 Save %). Rask is 0-3-3 with a 3.54 GAA and .881 save % in six career games against Washington. Holtby is 4-0-0 with a 2.16 GAA and .936 save percentage in four games against Boston.

BRUINS VS CAPITALS LIFETIME: The Bruins and Capitals will meet for the 144th time today in their franchise histories. The B’s have compiled a 74-40-21-8 record in those matchups and have outscored Washington, 483-396. The Black & Gold are 41-19-9-3 in their 72 lifetime meetings against the Capitals in Boston, with a scoring advantage of 250-190 in those contests. The Bruins are 6-4-4 in their last 14 games overall against the Capitals and are 3-2-1 in their last six vs. the Caps in Boston.

MARK RECCHI PUCK DROP: The Boston Bruins will pay tribute to 90 years of history during ten select home games throughout the 2013-14 season. The organization will honor each of the ten decades of Bruins hockey as part of the 90 Years Celebration presented by Alex and Ani. Tonight, B’s legend Mark Recchi will drop the ceremonial first puck to begin the night's tribute to the Bruins of the 2010's.

NEW FACES: On March 5, the Bruins acquired Andrej Meszaros from the Philadelphia Flyers for a third round pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft and claimed Corey Potter off of waivers from the Edmonton Oilers. Meszaros will wear sweater #41 and Potter will wear sweater #6. A full release for the transactions can be found at the media materials stations on levels 3 and 9.

TOP LINE ROLLING: The line composed of Milan Lucic, David Krejci and Jarome Iginla have racked up 32 combined points in their last eight games with Iginla’s 12 (four goals, eight assists), Lucic’s 11 (four goals, six assists) and Krejci’s 10 (five goals, five assists).

CATALYST KREJCI: Krejci recorded his third regular season hat trick on March 4 against the Florida Panthers in Boston… In his last 15 contests, Krejci has accrued seven goals and 12 assists for 19 points… The Bruins have compiled a 33-4-2 record this year in games in which Krejci has recorded at least one point.

198 AND COUNTING: Following Tuesday’s game against the Florida Panthers, the Boston Bruins have sold out 198 straight regular season and playoff games. This sellout streak began more than three years ago on December 5, 2009 against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The last game the Bruins did not have 17,565 in attendance at the Garden was on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 when they hosted the Tampa Bay Lightning (16,553).

CAPITALS NOTEBOOK: The Capitals acquired goaltender Jaroslav Halak and a third round pick in the 2015 NHL Draft from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for goaltender Michael Neuvirth and defenseman Rostislav Klesla… Acquired Dustin Penner from the Ducks in exchange for Anaheim’s fourth round selection in the 2014 Draft… Entering today, forward Alex Ovechkin leads the NHL is goals with 44. In 31 lifetime games against the Bruins, Ovechkin has accumulated 34 points (14 goals, 20 assists)… Goaltender Braden Holtby is undefeated against the Black & Gold with a 4-0-0 record… Jason Chimera enters tonight one point shy of 300 NHL points…

SPECIAL TEAMS: Bruins power play: 37-for-178 (20.8%, T-7th NHL), Bruins penalty kill: 170-for-206 (82.5%, 13th NHL)… Capitals power play: 54-for-235 (23.0%, 2nd NHL), Capitals penalty kill: 186-for-231 (80.5%, 22nd NHL).
