Bruins Acquire Blake Parlett in Exchange for Carter Camper

BOSTON, MA - Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today, February 7, that the Bruins have acquired defenseman Blake Parlett from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for forward Carter Camper.

Parlett has skated in 37 games for the Springfield Falcons (American Hockey League) this season and has posted four goals and 14 assists for 18 points with 22 penalty minutes. In 2012-13, Parlett played in seven AHL postseason games for the Falcons and registered 2-1=3 totals after splitting the regular season between Springfield and the Connecticut Whale.

In total, the defenseman has appeared in 192 AHL regular season games (24 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack/Connecticut Whale in 2010-11, 122 games with the Whale from 2011-13 and 46 with the Springfield Falcons in 2012-14), accumulating 18 goals and 58 assists. In 13 career AHL playoff games, the 24-year-old blueliner tallied three goals and three assists.

The New York Rangers traded Parlett to the Columbus Blue Jackets on April 3, 2013 along with Marian Gaborik and Steven Delisle, in exchange for Derek Dorsett, Derick Brassard, John Moore and a sixth round draft pick in the 2014 NHL Draft.

The 6’’1’, 205-pound hails from Bracebridge, Ontario. He was signed as a free agent by the New York Rangers on June 2, 2011.

Carter Camper has appeared in 41 games for the Providence Bruins this season, and has recorded eight goals and 23 assists for 31 points (third on the team).

Camper skated the last four seasons with Providence (2010-14) and notched 37 goals-91=128 totals in 170 games. Prior to joining the Providence Bruins, the 25-year-old skated for four seasons at Miami University (Ohio) where he skated in 156 games.

The 5’9’’, 176-pound native of Cleveland, OH was signed by Boston as a free agent on April 7, 2011.
