Bruins\' 2013 draft pick, forward Anton Blidh, was very excited to be on American soil, and not just as a visitor from Sweden, but as a part of the Boston Bruins organization.

BostonBruins.com - Bruins' 2013 draft pick, forward Anton Blidh, was very excited to be on American soil, and not just as a visitor from Sweden, but as a part of the Boston Bruins organization.

The Boston Bruins drafted Blidh in the sixth round, 180th overall, this past June. No one was more surprised about this decision than Blidh himself.

“I was very happy,” Blidh said with a wide smile on his face. The prospect's English is sometimes limited, but his enthusiasm throughout the entire week at the B's annual Development Camp certainly showed his determination.

Listed as 6 feet tall, the 184-pound winger was one of the youngest players to be brought into the Bruins Development Camp this year.

“It felt good,” Blidh recounted about being on the ice for the first day of Development Camp. “It was fun, very fun to see all the boys.”

He was not the only player from Sweden to come to camp for the Bruins, joining defenseman Linus Arnesson, invite Daniel Brodin and forward Peter Cehlarik, who is a native of Slovakia but plays in Sweden.

Blidh is ready to start the journey of the changes he has to make in his play to adjust to the AHL and the NHL.

“It’s smaller ice here, so I think it’s more hits and fights.”

In the 2013 season, Blidh played for the Frolunda U-20 team in the Swedish Junior League and racked up 80 penalty minutes in 43 games. Based on his numbers and the gritty style he likes to play, his physicality would be warmly welcomed in the “big, bad, Bruins” city.

“It’s faster to get on the offensive and shoot on the net,” Blidh joyously added.

A player that fights and likes to shoot the puck? This sounds like a perfect match for Boston. He even is already a fan of the city.

“Boston is a nice city,” Blidh expressed with a grin.
