250K RAISED FOR MARATHON VICTIMS: Boston Bruins owner Jeremy Jacobs has pledged to donate $100,000 on behalf of the entire Bruins organization and Bruins players to the recently established The One Fund Boston, whose purpose is to raise money to help those families most affected by the events at the Boston Marathon. The TD Garden, NHL and NHLPA will also be making a donation in the amount of $50,000 each to show their support, making the combined total of all parties $250,000.
B’S/PENS JERSEYS TO BE AUCTIONED: The Boston Bruins announced April 18, that the Bruins and Penguins auction off their game-worn jerseys, adorned with unique patches, from their game on Saturday, April 20, to support those affected by the recent tragedy at the Boston Marathon. BRUINS PLAYOFF TICKETS ON SALE 4/22: Tickets for the club's first three home playoff games of the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs will go on sale at Monday, April 22 at 11:00 a.m. ET. Tickets will be available for purchase at the TD Garden Box Office, on www.bostonbruins.com and via phone by calling Ticketmaster at 800.745.3000. BRUINS TO HOST FAN APPRECIATION: The Boston Bruins will host Fan Appreciation Night this Sunday during the game against the Florida Panthers in order to thank Bruins fans for their continued support. Fans participating in this ceremony will be lined up on the ice with an envelope containing the name of a current Bruins player. Once prompted, they will open their envelope and reveal their player to the audience. The corresponding player will then skate over, remove their jersey, autograph the jersey, and pose for a photo with their fan. A group photograph will be taken at the end of the ceremony, and fans get to take home the autographed game worn jersey. For more information please see the “Around Town” section of the Week Ahead.
MARCHAND’S RAFFLE TO BENEFIT ONE FUND BOSTON: Brad Marchand will be raffling off his own TD Garden suite for the team’s first home playoff game, with all proceeds benefitting the Richard family of Dorchester, whose son Martin passed away on Monday. So far the raffle has generated more than $140,000 and will continue to be available until Monday, April 29 at 5:00 pm. The drawing will take place shortly thereafter at 5:15 pm to determine the winner.
ICE GIRLS & BLADES TO VISIT CHILDRENS HOSPITAL: The Boston Bruins Mascot and Ice Girls will be making a special trip to Children’s Hospital on Wednesday, April 24, to visit pediatric patients. Blades and Ice Girls will have a pizza party with the kids and will participate in a various games and activities. For more information please see the “Around Town” section of the Week Ahead.
ICE GIRLS & BLADES TO VISIT WHITTIER ELEMENTARY: On Friday, April 26, the Boston Bruins Ice Girls and Mascot Blades will be visiting the Whittier Elementary School for a pep rally. As an active participant in the Boston Bruins I.C.E. School program, the children of Whittier Elementary school will have the opportunity to participate in various cheers, Bruins themed trivia and a teacher versus student shootout. SHOOTOUTS VERSUS BUFFALO: Wednesday's shootout finish against the Sabres marks the 11th game to be decided in a shootout between the two teams, which is the most shootouts the Black and Gold have played versus any opponent. The B's now have a 6-5 lifetime record against Buffalo in those contests.
MATINEE GAME SUCCESS: The Bruins will play their final two matinee of the regular season on Saturday, April 20 and Sunday, April 21, when they take on the Pittsburgh Penguins and Florida Panthers at TD Garden. In afternoon games so far this season, the Bruins are 5-2-0.
PLAYOFF BERTH: The B's clinched a playoff berth with their 57th point of the season after Wednesday's Bruins-Sabres matchup. This is the sixth straight season that the Black and Gold have made their way to the postseason, and the 68th time overall in club history.
APPROACHING 150 CONSECUTIVE SELLOUTS: Following Wednesday’s home game at the TD Garden, the Bruins have sold out their last 149 home games, including regular season and playoffs. If the B’s sellout their game against the Panthers on Sunday, April 21, it will be their 150th straight. This sellout streak began more than three years ago on December 5, 2009 against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The last game the Bruins did not have 17,565 in attendance at the Garden was on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 when they hosted the Tampa Bay Lightning (16,553).
BROADCAST SCHEDULE: Jack Edwards, Andy Brickley and Naoko Funayama will cover all of this week’s games on NESN. Sunday’s game will also be covered on NHL Network Canada, and Tuesday’s tilt will be nationally broadcast on NBC Sports Network as well as TSN. The tandem of Dave Goucher and Bob Beers will handle all radio duties on 98.5 The Sports Hub. Start times for the upcoming games are as follows:

OFF THE ICE…
SAVVY’S SUITE: Boston Bruins forward Marc Savard has partnered with the Brain Injury Center at Children’s Hospital Boston, inviting children who suffer from the effects of Brain Trauma, both physically and psychologically, to attend a Bruins home game in his luxury suite. Children and their families receive goodie bags with Bruins memorabilia and a visit from Bruins Mascot Blades and Bruins Ice Girls. Savard started the program on Thursday, January 12, 2012, and it will continue through the end of the 2013-14 Bruins season.
COMMUNITY TICKET PROGRAM: For the entirety of the Boston Bruins 2012-13 regular season, Bruins Principal and Alternate Governor Charlie Jacobs is donating ten balcony tickets to every home game to children from charitable organizations across New England, who are invited to enjoy a Bruins home game from these donated seats.
BRAD’S BRIGADE IS BACK: The 2012-2013 season marks an exciting new chapter for Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand’s charitable program, “Brad’s Brigade”. Established in 2010, Marchand’s program invites children from pediatric oncology units across New England to experience a Bruins home game. Children and their families sit in the loge section and are featured on the Garden HDX. Each family also receives a Brad’s Brigade T-Shirt, a Garden Gold Card and a goodie bag with Bruins memorabilia. At the conclusion of the game, families are escorted down to ice level where they have the opportunity to meet Marchand and get a photo taken with him.
B’S ANNOUNCE CARLTON AWARD WINNERS:
WHAT:The Boston Bruins will honor Natasha Rachlin of Noble and Greenough School and Ryan Fitzgerald of Malden Catholic High School and Valley Jr. Warriors (Eastern Jr. Hockey League) with the 2013 John Carlton Award on Saturday, April 20 during their game against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Named after the late Bruins scout and administrator who passed away in 1982, the John Carlton Award is given annually by the Boston Bruins to an outstanding male and female student-athlete. The award is given to high school seniors who combine exceptional hockey skills with academic excellence. This year's recipients have excelled both in the classroom and on the ice. Natasha helped Noble and Greenough's women's hockey team win the New England Championship for the second consecutive year compiling 8 goals and 12 assists as a defender. She was named the ISL MVP and NEPSAC first team all-star. Natasha also won a silver medal competing on the 2012 USA Under 18 National Team at the World Under-18 Championship. She is an honor role student and will be attending Harvard University in the fall. Ryan was named the Eastern Junior Hockey League Rookie of the Year this season playing for the Valley Jr. Warriors and putting up 17 goals and 19 assists. During his Sophomore and Junior campaigns at Malden Catholic High School he was a member of their State Championship Team and named to the Boston Globe and Boston Herald all-scholastic teams. Ryan is an honor role student will be attending Boston College in the fall.

WHAT: The Boston Bruins and Warrior Hockey have partnered to host six on-ice sessions as part of the “Warrior Clinic Series” throughout New England this season and will host two sessions this week on Monday, April 22 and Tuesday, April 23. Each clinic features on-ice instruction led by Boston Bruins Alumni and members of the Boston Bruins Youth Hockey Development Team. The sessions will focus on developing player’s individual offensive and defensive games, while also improving overall team play.
