These students must have an exceptional record of on and off the ice conduct, teamwork, spirit and respectfully accept the rulings of game officials during the season. Bruins Alumni John Bucyk will present individuals who were selected for this award with the Boston Bruins MIAA Sportsmanship Award during the second intermission of the Bruins/Hurricanes game. BRUINS TRADE DEADLINE TRANSACTIONS: Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced April 3, that the team acquired defenseman Wade Redden from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for a conditional seventh round draft pick in 2014. The pick becomes a sixth round pick in 2014 if Redden plays in one or more games during the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Bruins also acquired forward Rob Flick from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for forward Max Sauve.

BRUINS ACQUIRE JAGR: On April 2, Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced that the club has acquired forward Jaromir Jagr from the Dallas Stars in exchange for forward Lane MacDermid, the rights to unsigned draft pick Cody Payne and a conditional second round draft pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.  The 2013 second round pick will become a 2013 first round pick if the Bruins advance to the Eastern Conference finals during the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs. The two-time Stanley Cup Champion (Pittsburgh, 1991, 1992) has skated in a total of 1,380 NHL games (37th NHL all-time), notching 679 goals (10th NHL all-time) and 1,000 assists (12th NHL all-time).  His career 1,679 points rank eighth on the NHL’s all-time list. Jagr has been named the Art Ross Trophy winner five times in his career (1995, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001) and has been selected to the NHL All-Star game on 12 occasions (1992-1994, 1996-2004).

BRUINS SIGN FREE AGENT LINDBLAD: Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli announced April 5, that the team signed free agent forward Matthew Lindblad from Dartmouth College to an entry-level contract. Lindblad will report to the Providence Bruins (American Hockey League). Lindblad appeared in 30 games for Dartmouth (ECAC) this year and registered 10 goals and 18 assists with two penalty minutes. The forward’s 28 points were good for second on the team. The 23-year-old skated in a total of 89 games over three seasons with the Big Green and notched 29 goals and 51 assists for 80 points during that span. Read the full release here.

STATS YOU MAY FIND INTERESTING…

JAGR SCORES IN FIRST GAME AS BRUIN: Jaromir Jagr scored in his first game as a Bruin on Thursday, April 4, against the New Jersey Devils and became the first player to get his first point as a Bruin since Joe Corvo, who had an assist in his Bruins’ debut on October 6, 2011 versus the Philadelphia Flyers. Jagr is also the first player to score a goal in his first game in a Boston sweater since Blake Wheeler and Michael Ryder both scored on October 9, 2009 against the Colorado Avalanche in their first game. Jagr has now tallied 5-4=9 totals in his last eight games (seven with Dallas, one with Boston).

SHOTS FIRED: In their last two games, the Bruins have had to fend off 40+ shots from their opponent with Ottawa's 47 shots on April 2 and New Jersey's 40 shots on April 4. The Bruins have not faced 40-or-more shot games by consecutive opponents since December 13, 2011 against Los Angeles (4-1 in a 3-0 Boston win) and December 14 at Ottawa (49 in a 5-2 Bruins victory).

TUUKKA TIME: With Tuukka Rask’s shutout performance on Thursday night against the New Jersey Devils, he earns his third shutout of the season and his 14th shutout of his career. Rask’s 1-0 victory against New Jersey was his third shutout against the Devils in his career, and is the fifth time in his 14 shutouts that he has earned a 1-0 shutout win with a final score of 1-0.

KREJCI WEARS THE ‘A’: With Patrice Bergeron out of the lineup against the New Jersey Devils, David Krejci wore the 'A' on his sweater, along with Andrew Ference. Ference normally alternates the 'A' with Chris Kelly.

146 AND COUNTING: Following Thursday’s home game at the TD Garden, the Bruins have sold out their last 146 home games, including regular season and playoffs. This sellout streak began more than three years ago on December 5, 2009 against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The last game the Bruins did not have 17,565 in attendance at the Garden was on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 when they hosted the Tampa Bay Lightning (16,553).

BOSTON MEDIA TWEET OF THE WEEK (TOTW):

The Boston media “Tweet of the Week” is in its twelfth week of the 2012-13 season. Last week, Matt Kalman tied Fluto Shinzawa for three TOTW wins, but Kevin Paul Dupont won’t go down without a fight, as he notches his first TOTW regular season win with his tweet in regards to Jagr’s stature. With three weeks of the regular season remaining, statistically, everyone is still in the race:

@GlobeKPD: “Jagr. Czech for ''Big Foot''. Bruins, 1-0.”

Here are this week’s honorable mentions, in no particular order:

@HackswithHaggs: “Johnny Boychuk has all his teeth intact but took 6 stiches right above mouth. Barely missed any time. Why? He's a hockey player #BruinsTalk
@JesseNEHJ: “Jaromir Jagr: So awesome, the iPhone makes no objections to his first or last name.”
@DJ_Bean: “Lots of media here for Jagr. This is where going to the combine every year pays off. 'Bows ready to be thrown.”

OFF THE ICE…

PATRICE’S PALS: As a part of his continuing charitable initiative Patrice’s Pals, Bruins alternate captain Patrice Bergeron invites children from local hospitals and other organizations to experience a Bruins home game from his luxury suite. Children and their families receive goodie bags filled with Bruins memorabilia, a visit from the Bruins Mascot Blades and Bruins Ice Girls, as well as a feature on the Garden HDX. After the game, Patrice’s Pals are escorted to ice level and introduced to Patrice himself who signs autographs and takes pictures with his Pals. This will take place at all Boston Bruins home games during the 2012-13 season.

SAVVY’S SUITE: Boston Bruins forward Marc Savard has partnered with the Brain Injury Center at Children’s Hospital Boston, inviting children who suffer from the effects of Brain Trauma, both physically and psychologically, to attend a Bruins home game in his luxury suite. Children and their families receive goodie bags with Bruins memorabilia and a visit from Bruins Mascot Blades and Bruins Ice Girls. Savard started the program on Thursday, January 12, 2012, and it will continue through the end of the 2013-14 Bruins season.

COMMUNITY TICKET PROGRAM: For the entirety of the Boston Bruins 2012-13 regular season, Bruins Principal and Alternate Governor Charlie Jacobs is donating ten balcony tickets to every home game to children from charitable organizations across New England, who are invited to enjoy a Bruins home game from these donated seats.

BRAD’S BRIGADE IS BACK: The 2012-2013 season marks an exciting new chapter for Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand’s charitable program, “Brad’s Brigade”.  Established in 2010, Marchand’s program invites children from pediatric oncology units across New England to experience a Bruins home game. Children and their families sit in the loge section and are featured on the Garden HDX.  Each family also receives a Brad’s Brigade T-Shirt, a Garden Gold Card and a goodie bag with Bruins memorabilia.  At the conclusion of the game, families are escorted down to ice level where they have the opportunity to meet Marchand and get a photo taken with him.
