BostonBruins.com - Following Monday night’s win over Toronto, Bruins forwards Tyler Seguin and Jordan Caron used their day off on Tuesday to visit the Hallmark Health System Hematology and Oncology Center in Stoneham and meet with the patients, of which many were huge fans of the Black & Gold.

The players donned their third jerseys as they visited with patients, took photos and signed autographs.

“It was awesome. It’s always fun to put a smile on somebody’s face, and some people here are pretty big fans so it was a lot of fun,” said Caron.

The B’s were happy to have the chance to talk with fans of an older generation and expressed how great it is to see their long-lasting commitment to the team.

“I think it’s pretty special to see older fans like this that are still following the Bruins, and they’ve been following the team for a long time now, so it’s pretty exciting,” said Caron, the right winger from Sayabec, Quebec.

One of those fans was a man named Chet, who was about to celebrate his 83rd birthday. He was excited to have the opportunity to meet with Seguin, his favorite Bruin, who was also glad to spend sometime with the birthday boy.

“I liked him right away, and he had a lot of humor. He said he wished his numbers were changed around and he were 38 today, and I said that he looked 35, so definitely a nice gentleman and it was a pleasure to meet him,” shared No. 19.

“The fans are the reason why we have a job, and to see some people that have been watching the Bruins their whole lives… it’s just cool to be able to actually meet them.”

For Caron, it was good to spend time with fans that may not be able to make it to the TD Garden to watch the players in action.

“They don’t get to see us very often and for us to come here and talk to them… it’s always fun for us,” said Caron.

It was exciting for the patients as well, said Denise Flynn, the Chief Development Office for Hallmark Health System, who was happy to see the players light up the patients’ day.

“It was great to see the patients smiling and happy. It really was touching. And these guys… are terrific, so they were very fun for the patients, very warm and kind,” said Flynn.

Seguin says it is moments like this that make him take a step back to enjoy what he can do for the dedicated fans of the Black & Gold.

“When you come to hospitals or things like that, it puts life in perspective, and seeing people battle through their own problems and us being able to come in and just light up their day… it really makes our job that much more fun.”
