BostonBruins.com -- There were Black & Gold prospects on either side of the highly anticipated Canada versus Russia game at the World Junior Championships on New Year's Eve in Ufa, Russia.

Hamilton

Team Canada forward Anthony Camara, defenseman Dougie Hamilton and goaltender Malcolm Subban faced off against Alexander Khokhlachev's Russian squad as the top junior-aged players in from both countries vied for first place in the tournament's Group B, a bye in the first round of the Playoff Round (and Boston Bruins Development Camp bragging rights).

Russia came in with a two-game win streak versus Canada in WJC play, but an early major penalty to the host squad and a two-goal Team Canada outburst -- including the tournament's first goal from Hamilton -- put Khokhlachev & Co. in an early 2-1 hole after 20 minutes despite a late goal.

Subban (21 saves) wouldn't be beaten again, however, and Canada scored goals in both the second and third period to cement a 4-1 victory.

The tournament breaks on New Year's Day, but will resume for Khokhlachev and Russia, now 3-1, when they take on Switzerland on Wednesday.

With a bye through the first round, Canada, now 4-0, awaits their opponent in the tournament semifinals.
