World Juniors Update: Dec. 29
Khokhlachev's Russians remain undefeated
BostonBruins.com -- With undefeated (2-0) Team Canada idle, and with Anthony Camara (2 GP, 0-1-1), Dougie Hamilton (2 GP, 0-1-1) and Malcolm Subban (2GP, 2-0, 3.00 GAA, .892 SV%) enjoying the day off, the only B's prospect in action on Saturday at Ufa, Russia's World Junior Championship was Alexander Khokhlachev.
Khokhlachev and his Russian teammates defeated Germany 7-0 and remained a perfect 3-0 after the home team jumped out to a three-goal lead after the first 20 minutes.
The B's Russian prospect fed Nail Yakupov and Danil Zharkovon the second and third Russian tallies and earned two assists as Khokhlachev's club cruised to their third victory in four days.
Tomorrow, with Khoklachev (who owns a 1-2-3 line through three games played) and Russia idle, the B's three Canadian skaters and their teammates take on Team USA, setting up a much anticipated New Year's Eve showdown between Canada and the host squad.
