BostonBruins.com -- There was only one game with a Black & Gold storyline to it, but even beyond the short schedule, today's World Juniors news out of Russia was pretty slight from a Boston Bruins perspective.

Grzelcyk

Team USA defeated Germany, 8-0, in a preliminary round game, but B's prospect, Boston University defenseman Matthew Grzelcyk, wasn't in the lineup.

While as of this posting there was no official news on Grzelcyk's status in Team USA's pregame notes (and although the defenseman remained on the preliminary roster), TSN's Bob McKenzie reported via Twitter (‏@TSNBobMcKenzie):

Team USA will go with 6 D in game vs. GER. One of Pat Sieloff or Matt Grzelcyk will be added to roster on Friday. The other will be released

Team USA wants to see how its 6 D perform as a group vs GER before deciding to take a banger (Sieloff) or a mobile puckhandler (Grzelcyk).

For those asking, rosters were submitted Dec. 25 but teams can leave open spot(s) and fill at later date. CAN didn't add Drouin til Dec. 26.

So, B's fans may have to wait another day before finding out if Charlestown's Grzelcyk will wear red, white and blue during the tournament.

Otherwise, B's fans waiting to cheer on Black & Gold prospects will have to wait until Friday when Anthony Camara, Dougie Hamilton and Malcolm Subban's Team Canada takes on Slovakia and Alexander Khokhlachev's Russia takes on the USA.
