BOSTON, MA — Matt Bartkowski called it "form fitting." Jordan Caron said it was the best costume he had seen all day. Max Sauve said it was definitely the winner among the group.

Straight out of Bedrock City, Jared Knight paraded around the Boston’s Children Hospital in a Wilma costume along with nine of his Providence Bruins teammates — also all bedecked in outfits — to bring some Halloween cheer to a number of children staying in the facility.

In the end, not only were Knight and his teammates able to do just that, but they also seemed to get a kick out of each other’s holiday attire.

"I think Jared Knight was Wilma from the Flintstones," said Chris Bourque, looking through his novelty glasses that were a part of his Waldo costume. "It looks pretty good, showing off his legs a little bit."

Still, before Bourque got to the particulars of his teammate, he made it clear the visit was first and foremost about the children.

"It’s good to come here and see these kids, like I said, put a smile on their faces and just brighten up their day, make their day a little more enjoyable, and give them a little goody bag," Bourque said.

Traveling around with Bourque was Caron (dressed as a tic-tac-toe board), Sauve (dressed as Prince Charming) and Bartkowski (dressed as a crayon). As the four made their way from room-to-room, pleasantries were exchanged, goody bags were handed out, and high-fives were traded.

"For Halloween, I think it’s pretty special for kids,” Caron said. "We just came, a few guys, to visit them, and to give them a couple of gifts, and to just try to put a smile on their faces.

"It’s always fun to come see children, especially on Halloween."

In the second group of P-Bruins were Knight, Torey Krug (dressed as a cow), and Ryan Spooner (dressed as a banana, but also wearing Dorothy’s red slippers).

"Well it’s really hot,” said Knight, as he discussed his Wilma costume. "We were the last ones to get here so we were the last ones to pick from the costumes.

"But the kids liked it, they smiled at it, they had fun with it, so it was good."

Still though, as Knight recounted his own Halloweens past, the Wilma costume began to make more and more sense.

"It’s not the first time I was a girl for Halloween," said a laughing Knight. "I was a girl for Halloween a couple of years ago, so I’m kind of used to it, but it’s all in fun.

"I was blonde, and I didn’t have a beard yet," added Jared. "Right now I’ve got the beard, hairy legs, so I don’t really look like Wilma."

For some players, the scene at Boston Children’s was familiar.

David Warsofsky, who played three years at Boston University, told BostonBruins.com that while he was a Terrier, he and some of his teammates visited Matt Brown, who was paralyzed while playing a hockey game for Norwood high school.

"Obviously, being in the Boston area, going to BU, you get the opportunity,” Warsofsky said, "but being in Providence and still getting the opportunity to give back, and show these kids a good time, and put a smile on their faces is nice.

"It’s always good to give back to these little kids. You kind of go out there and get a shot back to reality of what a lot of kids are dealing with nowadays, so it’s nice."
