BostonBruins.com — The young faces of the Providence Bruins — faces the team is hoping will return them to the postseason — may be more peach-fuzzed and clean shaven than some of the AHL's most experienced skaters, but after a weekend of play in which the P-Bruins netted impressive wins over the Manchester Monarchs and the Springfield Falcons, Jordan Caron said the young group is already in a great place.

"Everyone knows their jobs, we just needed to compete harder on the ice," said Caron, who spoke of a group of skilled prospects that are adjusting to the American League clock.

"In the AHL, you only play on the weekend, so you’ve got your routine," Caron said. “You practice all week to get ready for the weekend, so it’s a good thing.

"You get yourself ready, as a team and as a player, so I think it’s a good thing."

Like many other veteran P-Bruin players, Caron, still just 21 himself, said he also hopes to be a resource for his less experienced teammates as they navigate their way through the professional grind.

"We have a pretty young team, and I want to be a leader on the team," Caron said. "I’m not the most vocal guy, but I try to lead by example, and work hard in practices, and stuff like that.

"If guys have questions, I’m always there for that. I just want to work hard in practices and games and show them the way like that."

In fact, according to Caron, the high level of play brought by the P-Bruins newcomers makes all of those adjustments that much easier for everyone.

"Maybe a little bit,” Caron answered when asked about the team being in a transition, "but we have a lot of talent, so even though we’re young, [the young guys] knew what to expect.

"The guys like [Ryan Spooner] and [Jared Knight] played a little bit last year at the end of the season, so they knew what to expect.

"Just getting a couple of games in, it really got them ready for the rest of the season," he said.

But a group of fresh faces means that even experienced pros like Caron also need to build chemistry with new teammates.

However, Caron said that has not been an issue, and that the team will continue to mesh.

"The more we’re going to play together, the better we’re going to be," he said. "We had good practices again last week, and we’re going to have good practices again this week, so I’m sure we’re going to be ready to go this weekend.

"The chemistry is going to get even better, and hopefully we’re going to get the same results as last weekend."
