Caron, Krug Assigned to P-Bruins
Given the current labor situation between the NHL and the NHLPA, several Bruins players wondered aloud as to their schedules over the coming weeks as they spoke to the media after Friday\'s captain\'s practice in Wilmington.

WILMINGTON, MA — Friday, the Boston Bruins assigned Jordan Caron, Torey Krug and 19 others to their top minor league affiliate, the Providence Bruins.

"I think it’s important for me to play," said Caron of his assignment. "I’m still pretty young and still need to play a lot of games.

"I think if I go down there it’s going to be good for me and I wont’ be sitting around and just waiting for the NHL.

"So I think if I have to go down there, it’s going to be good for me," added Caron, who has appeared in 64 AHL games with the P-Bruins.

Krug also said he relishes the opportunity to learn the pro game and is excited to re-start his professional career in Providence.

"I’m going to continue to develop down there and just keep working hard and make sure that when the NHL starts back up again I give myself an opportunity to make a team," said the defenseman, who played two games with Boston at the end of the 2012-13 regular season.

"You know I’ve never lived a pro life, lived the pro lifestyle.

"So, for me to work hard every day, be on the ice with the guys grinding it out, lifting weights and everything—you know it’s a good opportunity for me to stay healthy and stay in shape."

Krug said that playing alongside the Bruins, both during the season and during this summer's captain's practices, has put him in a good position to start the season.

"Yeah, I’m definitely ready," said the former Michigan State Spartan standout. "I’ve learned a lot from these guys.

"The preparation that I see these guys—everyday they come here with a sense of focus, a sense of urgency, and they’re working out as hard they can.

"It gives me an idea of how hard you need to work to get to the next level, and I’m looking forward to it to apply that to my game," said Krug.

And despite starting the season in the AHL, Caron said he's determined to take the things he gathers in Providence and apply them to his work in Boston.

"I want to play in the NHL," said Caron. "This year is going to be a big year for me.

"I think that’s going to be important," added the forward of his AHL work. "I’m going to go down there and play some games, and when the NHL starts...I think I’m going to be ready."

Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli hopes so and said he expects Caron, Krug and all of the B's who hope to challenge for spots in the NHL to bring their best to AHL ice.

"Jordan Caron played a number of games for us last year," said Chiarelli. "So he’s a guy that, all things being equal, would have started the season with us [in Boston].

"So they’re going to, obviously, get a good, big, strong player that’s going to go down there.

"There’s a couple of other guys, whether it’s  [Matt] Bartkowski who’s challenging, whether it’s a Krug who we saw at the end of the year, who’s a good, nice addition, good player, smart player—they’re going to get some good players [in Providence]," he said.
