Canada Earns Series Win Over Russia

NHL.com -- Ryan Strome scored in sudden-death overtime to give Canada the win over Russia on Tuesday in their two-continent Challenge series.

Canada won Tuesday's regulation game, 4-2, to split the four-game series and set the stage for the deciding overtime period.

Ty Rattie scored two power-play goals and assisted on another to lead Canada to the Game 4 victory.

Strome, a New York Islanders prospect, then scored 3:20 into the extra period.

Rattie (St. Louis Blues) scored twice less than three minutes apart midway through the second period to give Canada a 3-2 lead. He assisted on Jonathan Huberdeau's third-period goal to cap the scoring in regulation.

Huberdeau (Florida Panthers) had two assists; Mark Scheifele (Winnipeg Jets) had three. Malcolm Subban (Boston Bruins) was the winning goaltender.

Andrei Sigarev, who scored the game-winner in Russia's 6-5 victory Monday, opened the scoring Tuesday with a goal at 14:23 of the first period.

Canada's Lucas Lessio (Phoenix Coyotes) tied the score 1-1 less than two minutes later.

Albert Yarullin put Russia ahead at 4:02 of the second period before Rattie scored at 9:51 and again at 12:47.

The teams each won one of the first two games of the series played in Yaroslavl, Russia. They then split the final two games, played in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

The Under-20 series was held to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the 1972 Summit Series, won by Canada four games to three with one tie.
