The yoga class will take place in the hospital’s new Sensory Motor Room. The Boston Bruins Foundation has donated $75,000 to help renovate and expand the hospital's Kennedy Day School.
The Kennedy Day School provides special education to students, ages 3 to 22, with complex, multiple challenges in the areas of communication, health, cognition, vision, hearing, mobility, sensory and social interaction. The school is located on the campus of Franciscan Hospital for Children so students can benefit from individualized hospital-level care and therapy during the school day. Franciscan’s Sensory Motor Room hosts physical therapy programs that help treat the Kennedy Day School students. Along with traditional physical therapy, yoga has been used frequently and has been found to be a stress-reliever as well as help strengthen muscles and minds.
