Milner Makes the List

WILMINGTON, MA – Boston College’s Parker Milner is among the six goaltenders in net for this week’s Development Camp at Ristuccia Arena. Milner stands out as the only invitee, and Bruins assistant general manager Don Sweeney said they are lucky to have him in attendance.

“He’s local, he was around this summer,” Sweeney said. “We felt like even with a crowded camp in the goaltending position, he still felt strongly to come in and be a part of our group, which again speaks to his confidence and what he thinks of his own abilities.”

There’s a reason the 21-year-old net-minder is so confident. Milner led the Eagles to an NCAA National Championship, where he was named the Frozen Four Most Outstanding Player and led all goalies in goals-against average (.50) and save percentage (.982).

“Watching Parker play, the bigger the game was, it seemed, the better he played,” Sweeney said. “I think everybody likes that and it peaks everybody’s interest.”

Milner is no stranger to the big stage, having graced the ice at Frozen Fenway and at TD Garden for the Beanpot.

“They were incredible,” Milner recalled. “Last year was something else for sure, and I want to build on that into this camp and into next year at BC.”

The backstop’s teammate Tommy Cross is a veteran at the B’s Development Camp, and Milner said it’s been nice sharing the rink with a familiar face.

“He’s definitely helped me along here,” Milner said. “He’s been here a lot so he’s shown me the ropes and kind of taken me around because I’m new to this.

“So it’s been good.”

The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native couldn’t be happier to participate in this week’s program, and was especially excited to receive the invitation from the B’s organization.

“Obviously really excited,” Milner said. “[The Bruins are] recent Stanley Cup champions, [and they are] local to where I go to school at BC.

“It was definitely one of the programs that I definitely wanted to get invited to.”
