BOSTON, MA – On Sunday, June 24, Bruins defenseman Andrew Ference will host three one-hour youth street hockey clinics for the Emerald Necklace Conservancy’s “Circle The City” initiative from 1:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m. at the Playstead Fields (Pierpont Road, Franklin, MA 02121).

Youth hockey players of all skill levels, ages 14 and under are invited to participate in the clinics led by Ference. The Boston Bruins will be donating all of the hockey equipment including sticks, pucks, balls, nets and goalie gear are provided so the children can fully experience the sport of street hockey safely and free of charge. This Sunday will kick-off the first of three “Circle The City” summer events. Free sports and fitness clinics, bike rides, walks, yoga, music and environmental classes are all part of the afternoon, ending with a performance by the Boston Pops. Circle the City is an open-streets initiative connecting people to parks. Circle The City will draw people out of their homes and cars and onto safe, car-free streets to walk, bike, roll, play and celebrate some of our greatest urban resources—our parks.

The Emerald Necklace Conservancy is a non-profit citizen's advocacy group whose mission is to protect, restore, maintain and promote the landscape, waterways and parkways of the Emerald Necklace park system as special places for people to visit and enjoy. The organization focuses on the six parks designed by Frederick Law Olmsted.
