Peverley's Busy Summer
BostonBruins.com – When BostonBruins.com last spoke with Rich Peverley, the B's sparkplug forward described the team's playoff elimination as a lost opportunity.
"That's the way I'm looking at it," Peverley said. "We had a really good opportunity in my opinion to go far and even have a chance.
"So it's very unfortunate, and I guess you learn from these events."
But you can learn from off-ice events, too. And the Peverley family will have their hands full throughout the extended offseason as Rich, his wife Nathalie and daughter Isabelle recently welcomed a baby boy, Frederik, into their lives.
"Just had another addition to the family, and I've been here in Boston ever since," Peverley said. "We're very lucky and Nathalie and I are very blessed."
As such, Peverley and his family will have to remain in town for a little while longer.
"I like to go away usually," Peverley said. "But now that we have a little one it's probably going to be a little tough to go away."
But sticking around the house shouldn't put a damper on his offseason workouts and Peverley, who finished the regular season posting 11-31-42 totals and scoring the most playoff points (3-2-5), is already easing his way back into the gym and onto the ice.
"The gym starts right about now, and I've just been kind of getting in the gym and kind of training a little bit," he said. "But skating you take a little bit of time off, and you don't want to start too early because it is a long season."
Now a month into an important offseason, the 29-year-old Ontario native is taking advantage of all the opportunities the summer has to offer in order to be relaxed and rejuvenated for 2012-12.
"It's going to be a busy summer," Peverley said. "But you know those are always fun."
