Seguin\'s Looking to Get Started
WILMINGTON, MA -- With the playoffs just a scant two-days away, the B's continued to ready themselves via another high-paced, intense practice at Ristuccia Memorial Arena on Tuesday.

After the session, when asked if he were ready for the postseason, second-year forward Tyler Seguin said, "I think I’d be ready to start tonight. I think anyone would be.

"Obviously, the days of preparation can be pretty long and Bergy [Patrice Bergeron] already told me that he wants to text me and make sure I’m getting my vegetables and sleep, so we’ll see if that actually happens."

But the "impatient" Seguin already has a pretty good idea of what "actually happens" in the postseason has he played in 13 of the B's contests on the road to last season's Stanley Cup Championship.

"The first thing I noticed is just generally the all-around atmosphere of it," said Seguin of the differences between the NHL's regular season and playoffs. "Especially in my first game on the ice -- whether it was the crowd being louder or just the intensity and the speed -- the passion of the players is definitely different.

"You notice how it is around the rink as well - off the ice," added Seguin. "You really can.

"Not only does hockey take up pretty much most of your life but in playoffs it’s really, you know, the phones are almost always off and, you know, just really focused and it’s a lot of fun."

But there's pressure to perform, as well. And Seguin said he feels his fair share.

"Absolutely. I think I, and a lot of athletes put enough pressure on themselves as it is, but obviously it’s playoff time – it’s when the real season begins," said Seguin, who earned 3-4-7 totals last spring.

However, Seguin also said experience will help him through this postseason.

"I like to kind of compare it to going into your second NHL season," said Tyler. "You're just more physically and mentally prepared to start the season, just because of the experience you gain.

"Same with playoffs –- with playing in a few Game 7's last year and playing games and being around the rink -- you gain experience of what it’s like a bit and it makes you a bit more physically and mentally prepared to get started."

And getting started is pretty much first and foremost on Seguin's mind.

"This is where you get really excited and it’s a lot of fun," repeated the forward. "These days preparing are pretty long, but I can wait until we start."
