Black & Gold Chomping at the Bit
BOSTON, MA -- When the Florida Panthers defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 4-1 the hockey tumblers clicked and produced a first round opponent for the Boston Bruins - the Washington Capitals.

However, even without knowing who they'd face first in the opening round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs the B's were chomping at the bit.

"I think this is definitely what everyone has been waiting for, to get back to," said Milan Lucic. "Really looking forward to it.

"Obviously [back-to-back Cup wins] hasn't been done in a while, but we’re not looking at the big picture here right now.

"There’s no better time to play hockey than this time of year. As you can tell by my smile, I’m excited for it," he said.

Nearby in the locker room, Brad Marchand was pleased that the B's had entered the postseason by ending their regular season with a win.

"We wanted to finish on a good note," said the forward. "We had a tough start, digging out by a couple goals, but we showed the character that we need going into the playoffs.

"We battled back, and that’s what you have to do if you want to win games. We’re proud of what we accomplished tonight."

But there is work to do.

"I’ll find out tomorrow and it doesn’t really matter who we play," added Marchand. "We’ve got to worry about what we have to do, to get our rest and be prepared for whatever team we’re going to be facing."

Patrice Bergeron, whose shootout goal gave the B's a win in Game 82, was excited as well.

"It’s a great challenge, and it’s a tough challenge," said Bergeron of the B's prospects of defending their Stanley Cup Playoffs. "We know every team is going to be ready to take it away from us obviously.

"That’s the goal from every team is to probably get that ultimate prize and same thing for us, but we can’t think about that right now we need to think about round one."

However, going into Round 1, the B's feel good about their game.

"I think we are feeling very good I think were playing well; we’re playing the way that we need to play in playoffs," he said.  "I think we all play within our strength and we all are playing our role...on the team.

"And when we are playing as a whole unit there as a team that’s when we get the best success so we got to keep doing that same thing next week."
