B\'s Expect Playoff-like Intensity from Sharks
SAN JOSE, CA -- It was a high-paced, 40-minute practice, which followed a 2700 mile, six-hour flight from Massachusetts.

Afterward, the B's were asked how they planned to duplicate their outstanding efforts against Philadelphia and Toronto in Boston versus a desperate San Jose club fighting for their playoff lives and currently standing tenth in the Western Conference -- just two points behind eighth place Los Angeles.

"I think it’s how you show up and what you do about it," said Bruins alternate captain, defenseman Andrew Ference. "For the last month, we’ve been saying how we want to get our game back on track, but obviously we’ve proved we have to do it and go out and be a lot more productive."

Although the B's have said they want to play desperate hockey, Ference pointed out that desperation comes in many forms and it isn't just reserved for teams on the outside looking in.

"Everybody in that position is always desperate for a spot, everybody’s desperate for a contract or want to get in a higher position," explained Ference. "But it’s what you do when you show up and how you improve your game.

"We’re pretty focused, internally, on doing that."

But from the outside looking in, there didn't seem to be much to improve on after the B's big, 8-0, win over the Maple Leafs.

"Yeah, I think we played really well in all three zones, all 60 minutes," said forward David Krejci. "We were doing the little things right. I think we were in the right position the whole time, we knew what to do out there and didn’t look confused. Everybody did their job on the ice, and trusted the other guy on the ice to do his job, too.

"I think that’s what we did. We went out there, were in good position...and got some good chances on the rushes and were able to score."

Ference said he was more impressed with the Bruins 3-2 shootout victory over Philadelphia, but also saw things to like versus the Leafs, too.

"It was a more competitive game," said Ference. "When games get out of hand like Toronto, it’s hard to judge your game too critically, either too positively or negatively.

"They were obviously frustrated with their game and there wasn’t a lot of flow to it. But I think we took a lot of positives from Philly, [and] the consistency [against] Toronto...where we did have a lead but didn’t really start doing some of the things that nobody really notices.

"But even with the score the way it was, guys looked at the bigger picture to get our team on track," he said.

And what Krejci sees in tomorrow's match up, is a contest more akin to the Philadelphia game.

"They’re battling for playoffs, we’re battling for second place," said Krejci of the Sharks. "We want to have the home ice advantage - so this is going to be a hard game.

"We don’t play these guys often, but we know they have really good players, they're battling," added Krejci. "I thought they would be in the playoffs this year [for sure].

"So, we won’t take them lightly, and have to try to go out there and do our best, try and do the same things we did against Toronto.

"We want to get two points, so this is a big game for us."
