The Boston Bruins Week Ahead
THIS WEEK’S NEWS, NOTES AND NUMBERS...

ST. PATRICK’S DAY JERSEYS: The Boston Bruins limited edition St. Patrick's Day practice jersey is now on-sale at the Pro Shop located in TD Garden. The Kelly Green, Spoked-B jersey, which also features a shamrock on each shoulder, is available in adult sizes S-2XL. Bruins fans can purchase their limited edition practice jersey for $95, or $165 to have it customized with a personal name and number.

The Boston Bruins Foundation will be raffling off a Brad Marchand and Shawn Thornton limited edition St. Patrick's Day jersey. The jerseys will be autographed and worn by Marchand and Thornton during their pregame warmup on Saturday, March 17. The raffle will run from Thursday, March 8 through Wednesday, March 21 at 5:00 p.m.

Tickets for the raffle can be purchased online at www.bruinsraffles.org for $5.00 per ticket, with the net proceeds benefiting the Boston Bruins Foundation.

In addition to the online raffle, the Boston Bruins Foundation will be hosting an in-game, silent auction on Saturday, March 17 and Monday, March 19. The St. Patrick's Day jerseys that will be auctioned on March 17 include Patrice Bergeron, Jordan Caron, Zdeno Chara, Milan Lucic, Tuukka Rask, Daniel Paille, Rich Peverley, Beniot Pouliot and Adam McQuaid. The jerseys of the March 19 auction include Gregory Campbell, Joe Corvo, Chris Kelly, Brian Rolston and Dennis Seidenberg.

The St. Patrick’s Day jerseys of Andrew Ference, David Krejci, Tyler Seguin and Tim Thomas will also be auctioned through NHL Auctions. For more information, visit NHL.com.

UPCOMING GAMES: The Bruins will face former teammate Dennis Wideman and the Washington Capitals for a Saturday matinee to complete their two-game homestand that began with Thursday night’s 3-1 win over Buffalo. The last matchup between the B’s and the Caps was on Super Bowl Sunday, where the Bruins came away with a 4-1 win.

Following Saturday’s game, the team will head south for a three-game road trip, stopping in Pittsburgh, Tampa and Sunrise, FL. Sunday’s contest against the Pens will be broadcasted nationally on NBC and is set to air at 12:30 p.m. ET. The Penguins are currently 9-1-0 at home in their last ten games, giving them the second best record in the league in the last ten contests.

The team will then kick off their two-game stint in Florida with a Tuesday night game against Tampa Bay and conclude on Thursday night against the Florida Panthers. Florida currently sits atop the Southeast Division with 74 total points.

The B’s will return home in time for a St. Patrick’s Day matchup against the Philadelphia Flyers at the TD Garden on Saturday, March 17th. The matinee game is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.

Jack Edwards, Andy Brickley and Naoko Funayama will call four of the five games next week on NESN, as Sunday’s game at Pittsburgh will be carried nationally on NBC. The tandem of Dave Goucher and Bob Beers will handle all radio duties on 98.5 The Sports Hub. Start times for the upcoming games are as follows:

3/10 vs. WSH, 1:00 p.m. ET
3/11 at PIT, 12:30 p.m. ET
3/13 at TB, 7:30 p.m. ET
3/15 at FLA, 7:30 p.m. ET
3/17 vs. PHI, 1:00 p.m. ET

BRUINS/PENS ON NBC: This Sunday, March 11, the Bruins/Penguins game in Pittsburgh will be televised on NBC and will start at 12:30 p.m. ET.

“CUTS FOR A CAUSE” DATE SET: On Wednesday, March 28, Bruins forward Shawn Thornton and members of the Boston Bruins are teaming up with 98.5 the Sports Hub to host the fifth annual “Cuts for a Cause” to benefit the Boston Bruins Foundation and Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center. Details including time, location and ticket information will be released at a later date.

118 AND COUNTING: Including the Bruins latest home game the Bruins have now sold out their last 118 home games at the TD Garden, including regular season and playoffs. This sellout streak began more than two years ago on December 5, 2009 against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The last game the Bruins did not have 17,565 in attendance at the Garden was on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 when they hosted the Tampa Bay Lightning (16,553).

STATS YOU MAY FIND INTERESTING…
1. Since playing on the same line on March 1, Milan Lucic (1-5=6 totals), David Krejci (5-2=7 totals) and Tyler Seguin (4-3=7 totals) are all on five-game point streaks and have combined for 10 goals and 10 assists.

2. With victories over Toronto and Buffalo, the Bruins won consecutive games for the first time since Jan. 10-12, a span of 24 games. That is their longest stretch of games without consecutive victories since a 37-game span from Oct. 13, 2000-Jan. 6, 2001.

3. The last time a goaltender other than Tim Thomas or Tuukka Rask played a game for the Bruins was when Manny Fernandez dropped a 6-1 decision in Washington on April 11, 2009.

BOSTON MEDIA TWEET OF THE WEEK (TOTW): TheBruinsBlog’s Matt Kalman narrowly holds off the Boston Globe’s Fluto Shinzawa for the victory this week. A win by Shinzawa would have put him up two over the field with a month left in the TOTW regular season but Kalman’s tweet – which referenced the Bruins injury situation at goalie with the previous playing history of a BostonBruins.com writer – held on.

@TheBruinsBlog: “Only spare goalie I see around should Thomas go down – The Bish @NHLBruins!”

And here are this week’s honorable mentions, in no particular order:

@FlutoShinzawa (Fluto Shinzawa, Boston Globe): Matt Lombardi off for spraying Tim Thomas. Most snow Thomas has probably seen this mild winter.

@FlutoShinzawa: Shawn Thornton off for roughing Hamonic. Questionable. Guess we’re playing chess today.

LAST BRUINS PROSPECT REPORT SENT OUT: Wednesday, February 29, 2012
NEXT BRUINS PROSPECT REPORT SENT OUT: Wednesday, March 14, 2012

PREVIOUS PROSPECT REPORT SUMMARY: The Bruins Communications Staff sent out their sixth edition of the Boston Bruins Prospect Report on February 29. It can be viewed online at BostonBruins.com and on the Bruins Media Website. In addition to notes on all players in the Bruins system and features on Max Sauve and Rob O’Gara, here are some of the other Prospect Report’s highlights (stats current as of 2/29/12):

HAMILTON HEATS UP: Since returning from his suspension on Feb. 12, Niagara defenseman Dougie Hamilton has powered the IceDogs offense with four goals and nine assists in a seven-game point streak. His most prolific effort came on Feb. 26, when he scored two goals and two assists in a 9-3 win over the Kingston Frontenacs. The IceDogs star defenseman leads all OHL blueliners with 63 points (17-46-63).

CAMPER CREATES: Carter Camper had a week of firsts, recording his first professional career hat trick and first NHL goal.  On February 19 Camper had a multi-point night, contributing three goals against the Connecticut Whale for a 4-3 win.  Camper was recalled to Boston on February 21 and joined the team for the rest of their 11-day road trip.  Fortunately enough, on February 25 he recorded his first NHL goal during the Bruins 5-3 win. Once the Bruins returned from the road trip Camper was reassigned to Providence on February 27.

SAUVE CALLED UP: Max Sauve rejoined the P-Bruins in February after being sidelined with a concussion and is currently on a four game point streak with the club. He has recorded points in four consecutive games on 2/19, 2/24, 2/25 and 2/26. Sauve had a multi-point night on Feb. 24, contributing one goal and one assist to aid his team in a 5-3 victory over the Worcester Sharks. Sauve received his first NHL career recall on February 27 when he was recalled to the Boston Bruins and appeared at the team’s practice the following day.

HUTCHINSON HALTS TO SHUTOUT:  On February 17 Michael Hutchinson earned his first shutout of the season.  The P-Bruins blanked the Hershey Bears for a 6-0 victory.  Hutchinson was flawless, stopping all 23 of Hershey’s attempts.  Providence faced Worcester on February 24th and rallied to defeat the Sharks 5-3, with Hutchinson stopping 42 of 45 shots.
