Bodnarchuk & Hennessy Assigned to P-Bruins

BOSTON, MA – Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has assigned defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk and forward Josh Hennessy to the Providence Bruins (American Hockey League). Both players are expected to join the P-Bruins on Sunday, February 26 for their 3:00 p.m. game in Manchester.
Bodnarchuk and Hennessy were both recalled to Boston on February 13th and joined Boston on their 11 day road trip that began with an away game in Montreal on February 15th. On the road trip, Hennessy appeared in three games for the Bruins.
In Providence this season, Bodnarchuk has skated in 47 games with four goals and seven assists, giving him 11 overall points. Hennessy has 15 goals and 15 assists in 49 games with Providence so far this season.
In his 2010-11 season with Providence, Bodnarchuk played in 75 games, with one goal and 15 assists. In the 2009-10 season, he was recalled to Boston on one occasion. He appeared in five games with the team, including his first NHL game on April 3, 2010 at Toronto.
Hennessy played his 2010-11 season with HC Lugano in Switzerland where he had nine goals and 19 points in 36 games, tying for fourth place in the club’s scoring race. Hennessy has now appeared in 23 NHL games with Boston and Ottawa and has one goal, scored on January 7th, 2007 in Ottawa’s contest against Philadelphia.
Bodnarchuk was drafted by the Bruins in the fifth round (128th overall) in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. Hennessy was drafted by San Jose in the second round (43rd overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. After spending time in San Jose, Chicago and Ottawa, he was signed by Boston as a free agent on July 5, 2011.
The 2011-2012 Boston Bruins season is presented by the Massachusetts State Lottery.
