Bruins Week Ahead
THIS WEEK’S NEWS, NOTES AND NUMBERS...

PEVERLEY OUT 4-6 WEEKS: Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli announced on Friday that forward Rich Peverley will miss 4-6 weeks with a third degree MCL sprain in his right knee. The injury occurred in the third period of the Bruins/Canadiens game on Wednesday, February 15.

ROCKLAND’S HENNESSY TO MAKE BRUINS DEBUT: Rockland, MA native Josh Hennessy will make his Bruins debut on Friday night in Winnipeg, filling in for the injured Rich Peverley. Based on Friday’s morning skate, he will play on a line alongside Shawn Thornton and Gregory Campbell. The 27-year-old Hennessy has skated in 20 career NHL games and registered one goal. Friday night’s game will mark Hennessy’s first NHL game since 12/21/09 when he was a member of the Sens. The P-Bruins leading goal scorer this year with 15, Hennessy was signed by the Bruins as a free agent on July 5, 2011.

UPCOMING GAMES: The Bruins road trip rolls on with Friday night’s game against the Winnipeg Jets. Winnipeg is 3-2-0 in their last five games and they are coming off a 4-3 shootout win over the Minnesota Wild on Thursday night. Head Coach Claude Julien told reporters on Friday that Tuukka Rask would get the nod in net for the Bruins.

Following the game against Winnipeg, the B’s will head to Minnesota to face the Wild on Sunday in a nationally televised game on NBC at 3:30 p.m. ET during “Hockey Day in America.” NBC Sports Group will anchor nine hours of coverage on NBC and the NBC Sports Network on Sunday. NBC will provide regional coverage of three games at Noon ET, followed by the nationally televised B’s/Wild matchup at 3 pm ET. Then at 6 pm, NBC Sports Network will televise the New Jersey Devils game at Montreal.

The Bruins will continue their road trip in the Midwest with a visit to the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday, February 22 before heading east to wrap up their season’s longest road trip with games at Buffalo on Friday, February 24 and at Ottawa on Saturday, February 25.

Jack Edwards, Andy Brickley and Naoko Funayama will call four of the five games next week on NESN while NBC will televise the game on Sunday against Minnesota. The tandem of Dave Goucher and Bob Beers will handle all radio duties on 98.5 The Sports Hub. Start times for next week’s games are as follows:

2/17 at WPG, 8:00 p.m. ET
2/19 at MIN, 3:30 p.m. ET
2/22 at STL, 8:00 p.m. ET
2/24 at BUF, 7:30 p.m. ET
2/25 at OTT, 7:00 p.m. ET

114 AND COUNTING: Including the Bruins latest home game the Bruins have now sold out their last 114 home games at the TD Garden, including regular season and playoffs. This sellout streak began more than two years ago on December 5, 2009 against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The last game the Bruins did not have 17,565 in attendance at the Garden was on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 when they hosted the Tampa Bay Lightning (16,553).

BOSTON MEDIA TWEET OF THE WEEK (TOTW): Barstool Sports’ Brian McGonagle earns his first TOTW win of the 2012-12 season this week. Credit should be given to McGonagle not just for the winning tweet but for the broad range of sports and non-sports related topics covered on his twitter handle this past week. The winner came after Andrew Ference “cleanly” celebrated his first goal in the Bell Centre since his infamous “unintentional bird” incident from the first round of last year’s playoffs.

@RearAdBsBlog: “Nice to see that the B’s equipment guys repaired Andrew Ference’s faulty goal scoring glove since April.”

And here are this week’s Honorable Mentions, in no particular order:

@DJ_Bean: “Period not over. Both teams going off for goaltender interference.”

@kluedeke29: “@HackswithHaggs got 18k followers today...I hit 2.7k. Sometimes I feel like RC Cola in a world of Coke and Pepsi...”

@GlobeFluto: “Only -2 C in Winnipeg. Sandals in order.”

@GlobeFluto, on the retirement news of colleague Bob Ryan: “Bob Ryan: First-line talent, fourth-liner’s work ethic.”

@TheBruinsBlog, after Brad Marchand’s clipping penalty in the B’s/Habs game: “Shanahan already on phone with Gillis and Vigneault to see what they think punishment should be.”

Spooner has a total of 18 points with Sarnia after being traded from Kingston to the Sting on January 5th.

CLARKSON CREW CRUSHING IT: Clarkson University forward Ben Sexton has on one goal and eight assists in his last five games, helping the Golden Knights win three out of their last five games.
