TD GARDEN ASSISTS SALVATION ARMY: Charlie Jacobs, John Wentzell and Bob Sweeney met up with the divisional commander of the Salvation Army Major David E. Kelly at the TD Garden/North Station kettle location to make a $15,000 donation on behalf of Garden Neighborhood Charities and the Boston Bruins Foundation on Friday, December 16. The donation will be matched by an anonymous donor through the Salvation Army to total in $30,000. This donation was made as a result of the long standing relationship between Garden Neighborhood Charities and the Salvation Army and as an immediate response to recent news that the Salvation Army was down in Red Kettle donations for the season by 22%.

102 AND COUNTING: Including the Bruins/Kings game on Tuesday, the Bruins have now sold out their last 102 home games at the TD Garden, including regular season and playoffs. This sellout streak began nearly two years ago on December 5, 2009 against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The last game the Bruins did not have 17,565 in attendance at the Garden was on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 when they hosted the Tampa Bay Lightning (16,553).

BOSTON MEDIA TWEET OF THE WEEK: Fluto Shinzawa of the Boston Globe retakes the top spot after Columbus’ Derek Dorsett picked up a soft goaltender interference penalty during the Bruins/Jackets game last Saturday:

@FlutoShinzawa: “Goaltender interference on Derek Dorsett. Ryan Miller only person in world to agree with call.”

And here are this week’s Honorable Mentions, in no particular order:

@DouglasFlynn (Doug Flynn, NESN.com) during the Blue Jackets/Bruins game when the B’s hit an early post: “Ok so the Bruins have confirmed that posts in Columbus work as well as the ones at the Garden.”

@DJ_Bean talking about Brad Marchand’s nickname after getting hit with a puck during the B’s/Sens game on Wednesday (DJ Bean, WEEI.com) “The Brat was only hit by a puck. Da Brat was once hit with a three year sentence.”
