B's Sign Dougie Hamilton to Entry-Level Contract

BOSTON, MA – Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has signed defenseman Dougie Hamilton to an entry-level contract.As of December 8, the 18-year-old Hamilton ranked tied for seventh amongst all Ontario Hockey League skaters in scoring, with 41 points on 11 goals and 30 assists. He currently leads all OHL defensemen in goals, assists and points. Hamilton was named the OHL's Defenseman of the Month for October and captained the Team OHL squad that took on Team Russia in the 2011 Subway Super Series.
Hamilton is also one of the 41 players invited to Team Canada's selection camp for the World Junior Championships, which will be held in Calgary on December 10. 22 players will make Team Canada's final roster for the World Junior tournament, which is scheduled for Dec. 26-Jan. 5 in Calgary and Edmonton.
In 159 career OHL games with the Niagara IceDogs, the 6'5'', 194-lb native of Toronto has registered 26-89=115 totals and 139 penalty minutes.
Boston drafted Hamilton in the first round (9th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
