PROVIDENCE, RI -- The B's two Russian trained prospects had a pretty good time in Providence on Tuesday.| Khudobin |
"I feel good," said Khudobin, who played 16 games (with a 9-4-1 record)for the P-Bruins at the end of the 2010-11 campaign. "I played last year here a little bit and it’s always been lots of people in the [arena].
It was fun to play," added the backstop, who said that coming in cold halfway through the game was a little tough. "But fans helped me and the guys helped me too."
The biggest help was Khokhlachev (born in Moscow, Russia), who scored the first and fourth goals of the game for the Black.
"It was a simple goal," said "Koko" of his third period marker at 9:08. "It was just a great pass from my partner [Kirk MacDonald] and I took a shot and scored a goal.
"I’m really happy my team won today and am just proud of all the guys, so it’s great work."
The rookie said that he was nervous going into the game, but those butterflies soon flew the coop.
"After the first shift, I just go [on] the ice and work hard," he said. "It's the same game, just a different level.
"Yeah, I think after the first shift I felt better and just played my game."
Khudobin was wearing a huge smile as he packed up for the bus ride back to Boston and was asked if he were enjoying his time in Black & Gold.
"No question," he said. "I think it’s a great time in Boston and here [in Providence] and it's a great organization and I really enjoy it and I really like it."
And backing up the Vezina and Conn Smythe trophy winner, Tim Thomas, wasn't too shabby either.
"We talked a little bit during commercials," he said. "It was fun being back-up with Timmy."
But it was a lot of fun seeing his fellow prospects bring their best to the Black & White game.
"Especially the other Russian guy," said Anton with a laugh. "It’s really fun and it’s really good to see guys want to play and want to make the team and who are working hard every day [with] lots of energy.
"That’s fun to see."
