B's Make Five Selections on Day 2

ST. PAUL, MN -- The Boston Bruins made five selections on the second day of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. With the 40th overall pick in the second round, the Bruins selected forward Alexander Khokhlachev (pronounced “KOH-klah-chev”). The 17-year-old forward is a native of Moscow, Russia and measures 5’10, 172 pounds. In 2010-2011 with the Windsor Spitfires of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), Khokhlachev had 34-42=76 totals in 67 games played. He also had 9 goals and 11 assists for 20 points in 18 playoff games this season.

The Bruins selected forward Anthony Camara in the third round (81st overall). The 17-year-old Toronto, Ontario native has spent the past two seasons playing with the Saginaw Spirit of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). In the 2010-2011 season, he notched eight goals and added nine assists for 17 points in 64 games. The left winger also compiled 132 penalty minutes. The 6’1, 194 -pound Camara played in 129 regular season games during his two years with the Spirit, recording 14-17=29 totals, with 228 penalty minutes .

The Bruins tabbed forward Brian Ferlin in the fourth round (121th overall). The 19-year-old Jacksonville, Florida native has spent the past two seasons playing with the Indiana Ice of the United States Hockey League (USHL). In the 2010-2011 season, he notched 25 goals and added 28 assists for 73 points in 55 games, while compiling 26 penalty minutes. The 6’1, 196-pound Ferlin played in 112 regular season games during his two years with the Indiana Ice, recording 31-58=89 totals, 62 penalty minutes. Ferlin will attend Cornell University in the fall.

In the 5th round with the 151st overall pick the Bruins selected defenseman Robby O’Gara. The 17-year-old 6’3’, 195 pound Massapequa, NY native had 2-7=9 totals in 2010-2011 with Milton Academy of the Independent School League (ISL). O’Gara was a member of the Milton Mustangs squad that captured the 2011 NEPSIHA prep championship. O’Gara has committed to Yale University where he is expected to enroll in the fall of 2013.

With their final pick, the Bruins drafted Norwegian goaltender Lars Volden in the 6th round, 181st overall. Volden is 6’3’, 198 pounds and played for the Espoo Blues in Finland during the 2010-2011 season, posting a .907 SV% and 2.76 GAA in 24 games. The 18-year-old native of Oslo, Norway played for the Stavanger Oilers (top division in Norway) from 2009-2010 when he had a .880 SV% and a 3.13 GAA.
