Bruins Recall Kampfer on an Emergency Basis

BOSTON, MA – Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has recalled defenseman Steven Kampfer from the Providence Bruins on an emergency basis (American Hockey League). Kampfer will join Boston for their practice on Wednesday, December 8 at Ristuccia Arena in Wilmington, MA at 11:30 a.m. This is the first professional recall of Kampfer’s career.
Kampfer is in his first full professional season and ranks second on the P-Bruins in scoring and leads all defensemen with 3-13=16 totals in 20 games. The 2010 graduate of the University of Michigan skated in 147 games with seven goals and 53 assists for 60 points for the Wolverines, prior to joining Providence.
The 22-year-old Ann Arbor, Michigan native was acquired by the Bruins from the Anaheim Ducks for a 2010 fourth round pick on March 2, 2010. He was originally drafted by Anaheim in the fourth round (93rd overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
