BOSTON -- It's been a strange couple of days for Marco Sturm.

Like many people, the B's injured forward thought he was going go be traded on Thursday when reports throughout the hockey world had the winger winging his way to the West Coast.

On Thursday night, following the Bruins 8-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning, Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli released a statement: "I am aware of the various media reports today regarding Marco Sturm. I can confirm that I spoke to Marco about waiving his no trade clause and have had discussions regarding Marco with other teams. I can also confirm that there is no trade in place with Marco. At this time, Marco is a member of the Boston Bruins and will continue to train with our team."

On Friday, Sturm spoke to the press.

"A couple days ago Peter...explained to me the situation and he asked me if I’d [waive] my no trade clause," said Sturm. "I went to think about it overnight and I told him [on Thursday] and he told me the teams that were interested.

"So we kind of went through it and...I thought it would be done that day too.

"That didn’t happen so I am just gonna…workout again hard and we will see what happens," he said.

Sturm explained that his decision to waive his no trade clause was an understandibly difficult one.

"I mean it was a big shock for all of us," said Sturm. "For my family, too.

"We didn’t really see that coming. I know there were a lot of rumors out there, but still it was hard to take."

And that is particularly so because of Sturm's love of Boston.

"I absolutely love it here," said Sturm. "I’ve had a great five years here and, you know, it’s hard...but I also understand the business part of it and sometimes things don’t go the way you wanted.

"I’ve just got to look out for me now, for my future," he said.

For now Sturm remains a Bruin.

"Nothing really has changed," said Sturm. "That’s why I am still coming here and still try and be a good teammate and work hard. Just try to get better and healthy and we will see."

But the forward admitted that it is a little strange to be sitting in the locker room of the team that tried to trade him.

"Everyone kind of saw it on the news yesterday, too. So I told the guys everything today and you know everyone understands," he said. "We are all professionals so...we’ve all have to go forward."

And if Sturm remains with the Bruins going forward, that's fine with him.

"I’ve said it before. I absolutely love it here and I know I think we have a great team here," said Sturm. "I was hoping when Savvy [Marc Savard] and I came back, we could do a lot of things this year, but if not then you know I’ve got to go another way."
