BOSTON, MA – Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has assigned forward Jamie Arniel to the Providence Bruins (American Hockey League).

Arniel was recalled on an emergency basis on Saturday, November 27 and made his NHL debut on Sunday, November 28 when he skated 12:26 of ice time during the Bruins 4-1 loss in Atlanta.

Saturday’s recall was the second of Arniel’s career, he was called up on Tuesday, November 9 and was a healthy scratch in the team’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday, November 10.

The 21-year-old Arniel has appeared in 19 games this season for Providence, and leads the team in points and goals with 9-7=16 totals.

Arniel completed his first full pro season with the Providence Bruins in 2009-10, with 12-16=28 totals in 67 games. He won the club’s Rookie of the Year award and led all P-Bruins first-year players in scoring and assists.

The Kingston, Ontario native was drafted by Boston in the fourth round (97th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
