Boston, MA -- After Saturday night’s 3-2 setback to the Florida Panther’s — a game that ended in a shootout that featured rookie standouts Tyler Seguin and Ryan Spooner — the Boston Bruins headed to Brattleboro, VT for some off-ice team-building.

In a Sunday conference call, Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli clarified the difference between team-bonding and team-building, both of which he hopes happens in Vermont.

“Team-bonding is [when] we’re on a road trip and the team is just together a lot,” said the former captain of the Harvard Crimson. “Team-building is actual planned exercises, which is what they are doing right now.”

Chiarelli said that while in Vermont, the team is participating in physical exercises, and has already been split into groups to compete and complete delegated tasks and is meeting to discuss team issues.

The B's GM disclosed one of those topic.

“I know a major topic of discussion will be last year’s second round series again Philly,” said Chiarelli.

After eight straight days on the ice, the coaches and staff simply wanted to give the players a break and address topics beyond puck handling, special teams and the team’s systems.

“They’re not skating it today," Chiarelli continued. "It’s all about team building.”

This is not the B's first trip to the Green Mountain State for bonding and building as Boston Bruins head coach Claude Julien arranged for two previous trips to Vermont during his tenure.

All players still in training Bruins camp took the trip to Vermont and this includes 33-year-old Veteran Center Marc Savard, who is still battling symptoms from his concussion last season.

“He is in Vermont right now, yes," said Chiarelli. "They left after the game [Saturday].”

The Bruins return this afternoon and will take on the Washington Capitals in the Verizon Center tomorrow night at 7 PM.
