Boston, MA -- The rookies looked excited at today’s morning skate as they prepare to take on the New York Islanders.

Center Joe Colborne looks forward to an intense game and is confident that the new team can bring home a win.

“There’s going to be a lot of bad blood spilling over from [old] rivalries," said Colborne. "I’m looking forward to a pretty physical game.”

The Black & Gold's rookies have worked hard to get to this point and each of them are here to prove their skill and to vie for a spot in Boston or Providence.

“I feel great," said Joe. "I’ve put in a lot of hard work this summer, and this last week has been good so far.”

Colborne, a first round draft pick in 2008 (16th overall) says that playing with Tyler Seguin has produced great chemistry, and he hopes they can help the team snag the win.

“Ty has been great.  He’s so humble and down to earth, and he’s just one of the guys.  I don’t see that changing in him anytime soon, and hopefully we can go out and help lead the team to a couple of big wins here,” said Colborne.

Playing in an NHL arena is a lot of pressure for these young players, but it will be the ones that maintain composure that really turn heads in tonight’s game.

“It’s going to be the people who can control their emotions and go out and play their game," said Colborne. "We’ve been playing hockey for a long time, so it’s guys that can maintain their composure and capitalize on their chances [that] come through for the team.”

Joe explained how, on the ice today during pregame skate, he was imagining the thousands of Boston hockey fans that will be filling the TD Garden's seats for tonight’s game.

“[On the scale of 1-10] I would be at least an 11 or 12 right now," said Colborne. "Just coming to the Garden is pretty neat.

"And from what I’ve heard, we’re going to have some pretty good crowds, which will be unbelievable."

Colborne also hopes that tonight is just the first of many appearances in the TD Garden.

“I want to be looking at crowds for a long time in this rink," said Joe. "It’s pretty nice to finally be able to get out there and skate on it.

"I’m going to have some butterflies going, and it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
