Recchi Re-Signed
BOSTON, MA - Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has signed forward Mark Recchi to a one-year contract extension. Per club policy, financial terms of the deal will not be disclosed.

Recchi, a seven-time NHL all-star and two-time Stanley Cup Champion, is a veteran of 1571 NHL regular season games with 563 goals, 922 assists (1485 points) and 998 penalty minutes over 22 seasons. Of his 563 goals, 194 have come on the power play and 85 have been game-winners. He has had 16 career 20-goal seasons, seven 30-goal seasons, four 40-goal seasons and one 50-goal season.

The 42-year-old Kamloops, BC native played in 81 regular season games for the Bruins last season with 18-25=43 totals.  In 13 playoff games with the Bruins, Recchi led the team in goals with six and also contributed four assists. 2009-10 marked Recchi’s second season with the Bruins (first full season), since being acquired from the Tampa Bay Lightning on March 4, 2009 with a 2010 second round pick for Matt Lashoff and Martins Karsums.

Since joining the Black and Gold, Recchi has played 99 regular season games with 28-31=59 totals. In 24 playoff games with the Bruins, Recchi has posted 9-7=16 totals.

Recchi has played in 164 career Stanley Cup Playoff games, recording 56 goals, 77 assists and 133 points with 20 power-play goals and 10 game-winning goals. He won the Stanley Cup with Pittsburgh in 1991 and again with Carolina in 2006.

On October 24th, 2009 Recchi skated in his 1500 NHL game. His current 1571 regular season games played ranks him ninth all time, just behind former Bruins defenseman Ray Bourque.

Boston is the seventh different team Recchi has played for, having suited up for the Penguins, Flyers, Canadiens, Hurricanes, Thrashers and Lightning. Among active players, he ranks second in games played (Chris Chelios, 1651), second in goals (Teemu Selanne, 606), first in assists and first in points.

Recchi was originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the fourth round (67th overall) of the 1988 NHL Entry Draft. He was acquired by the Bruins from the Tampa Bay Lightning on March 4, 2009 with a 2010 second round pick for Matt Lashoff and Martins Karsums.
