Rask Named 7th Player; Bruins Announce MIAA Sportsmanship Award Winners
BOSTON, MA - The Boston Bruins and NESN announced today that Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask was named the winner of NESN’s Seventh Player Award. Voted on by Bruins fans online at NESN.com, NESN’s Seventh Player Award is an annual award presented to the Bruin who went above and beyond the call of duty and exceeded the expectations of Bruins fans during the 2009-10 season. This year, in his first full season with the Bruins, the 23-year-old Rask has compiled a 19-11-4 record with a 2.02 Goals Against Average, a .929 Save Percentage and five shutouts. As of Thursday, April 1, Rask led all NHL goaltenders in Goals Against, ranked tied for first in Save Percentage with Ryan Miller and was tied for seventh in shutouts. Rask was acquired by the Bruins from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for Andrew Raycroft on June 24, 2006. He was originally drafted by Toronto in the first round (21st overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

In addition to the Seventh Player Award trophy, Rask will be given $5,000 to donate to the charitable organization of his choice.

The Boston Bruins organization is also proud to announce the 2010 winners of the Boston Bruins/Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Ice Hockey Sportsmanship Award.
