Boston, MA – Spring is in the air, both in Boston and in David Krejci’s step.

After a unique Saturday practice at Ristuccia Memorial Arena in Wilmington, Mass., the forward explained why springtime hockey and the playoff drive that comes with it is his favorite part of the sport.

“The weather’s been great and I personally like it when, after practice, I go outside and it’s sun outside,” Krejci said. “It feels good and makes me maybe want to play hockey a little more, you know, I don’t know what it is, but I just love this time.

“Every game counts and every goal is huge.”

Along with his teammates, Krejci practiced in front of roughly 300 eager fans who were invited to Wilmington as part of Bruins season ticket holder program. After a disappointing 3-0 loss to Pittsburgh two days prior, Krejci said he and his teammates were happy to see they still had the support of the Bruins faithful.

“You know, after the game against Pittsburgh, I understand why the fans booed us. We deserve it,” Krejci said. “Sometimes something happens on the ice and they don’t like it, they let us know and this season hasn’t been great. We all know that we can do better."

However, Krejci said he was buoyed by the support he and the Bruins got when they attended the postgame portion of the 1970 Stanley Cup Anniversary Celebration.

“It was nice to see them, talk to them," said Krejci of the B's fans at the party. "They told us that they’re behind us, they support us 100 percent and no matter what happens, they’ll still be there.”

As the Bruins battle for the playoffs during today’s matinee against the New York Rangers, they know they will also be fighting for the fans’ faith.

“I believe that if we’re going to play as hard as we can and we’re going to play as one team,” Krejci said. “Once we get going I believe all 18,000 [fans] are going to be behind us and we can go together as one big town against the other teams and it will be nice to have them with us the rest of the regular season.

“We’re going to get the fans behind us again and maybe we can go as a big city against a lot of teams.”
