Boston, MA – Representing Slovakia on an international scale is well-worn territory for the newest Bruin, Miroslav Satan.

The forward has spent about a month in Boston, carefully gaining his footing and carving out his place in the B’s lineup. Come the Olympics though, he expects to have no trouble finding his rhythm.

Satan is a veteran NHLer, and has suited up for the Edmonton Oilers, Buffalo Sabres, New York Islanders, Pittsburgh Penguins, and several AHL teams, before coming to Boston. He’s represented Slovakia nationally 12 times in various tournaments.

This will be his fourth Olympics. Satan said he was happy his home team still believed in him, despite his several months out of uniform.

“Eventually, they expected me to sign somewhere so they put my on the roster, but as you know, the roster is not final so it was just more for maybe media,” said Satan last month. “There was still going to be some changes on it. But it’s kind of nice to see they’re still trusting me.”

Though he spent roughly half a season unemployed after leaving Pittsburgh, Miroslav Satan was always hopeful he would get picked up and then be confirmed on the Olympic roster.

He certainly didn’t bargain for his new captain to be Slovakian National teammate Zdeno Chara, that’s for sure. No, that was just the cherry on top of an already sweet deal.

“I wanted to start playing and get back into it so, it’s also an Olympic year, so I knew about the possibility,” said Satan.

Just one day after signing with the Bruins, Miroslav played his first game with the spoked B on his chest, ending the day with a +2 rating. Since then, he’s played in the last 17 games for Boston, registering 2-3-4 totals.

With the Slovakian team, Satan and Chara are scheduled to face fellow teammate David Krejci, on his Czech Republic squad. Then they will play both Russia and Latvia before the preliminaries are through.
