"Yeah, it’s coming along," said Boston Bruins head coach Claude Julien of his rapidly recovering roster. "Obviously, you saw some of those guys come back today.

"[Marco Sturm] is one of them. [Steve Begin] had another good day. We’re slowly getting back to hopefully a full roster."

There was even an Andrew Ference sighting.

"If it’s not his first [day on the ice], it’s his second," said Julien of his injured defenseman. "I’m not quite sure whether he skated yesterday or not, but if he did it was just a short time just to try it out.

"I think he’s feeling better and hopefully, if everything goes well, maybe by next week he can hop in with us and start working his way back."

And Marc Savard is poised to participate, as well.

"I am going to play tomorrow, so I am excited for that," said Marc Savard. "I got some good work in this week.

"This week was a good week."

It hasn't actually been a week since the last game, but three good days of practice and off-ice work have put the Bruins in a much better mood.

The hoots and hollers heard in the Ristuccia Memorial, which were more representative of many of last year's practices, could be heard throughout the arena on Thursday.

"Obviously, we've hit at tough stretch, but we had some good smiles out there," said Savard. "We were enthusiastic. We worked together.

"We had a lot of things this week to bring us back closer together.

"We're looking forward to these two games...We're taking it one at a time, but this is a big weekend for us," he said.

Marco Sturm is on the ice for practice. Steve Begin, Byron Bitz and Marc Savard are skating without issue, as well. The only missing face is Mark Recchi, who is presumably meeting the team in Buffalo after carrying the Olympic torch in his hometown of Kamloops, BC last night.

11:10 a.m.

Bruins defenseman Andrew Ference is on the ice in Wilmington as the Bruins prepare for their final practice session before resuming their schedule in Buffalo.

Ference last played on January 5th in Ottawa.
