Off-Ice Day for Bruins
4:15 p.m.
It was a light news day in Wilmington, as the Boston Bruins did not hold a formal practice and concentrated, instead, on off-ice work.

"You make sure your days are constructive," he said. "We’ve also had just played quite a few games and we had a real good practice yesterday.

"Today was about working and still trying to move forward with our team, but working in a different direction. Then we’ll be back on the ice [on Wednesday].

"We’ve still got two more days here to kind of build up towards the weekend," he said.
However, Coach Julien was mum as to the content of most of the material covered in whatever the B's were doing behind the scenes.

"I’m just going to keep my answers pretty plain," said Julien. "Video is one of them that we did do a bit."

There was some happy happenings, however. Steve Begin, Byron Bitz and Marc Savard all took to the ice with Assistant Coach Doug Houda.

All three men looked pleased with their workout.

"I'm doing better," said Begin. "So hopefully we'll come in tomorrow...and I'll probably push more and maybe skate with the guys.

"So we'll see."

Asked about the injury, Begin said, "it's nothing too big.

"Like I said, we're coming along, so hopefully I'll be ready for this weekend."

Like Begin, Bitz has had enough of sitting.

"I feel good," said Bitz. "My body is feeling good.

"Hopefully it keeps going like that and I'll be ready."

Bitz has not enjoyed his time in the pressbox.

"It's always frustrating when you're injured and unable to play," said Byron. "But it's part of it, and you just try to do what you can off the ice to keep yourself ready.

"And when you're lucky enough to get back on the ice, you're that much further ahead."

When he hit the ice this morning, Savard looked like a kid in a candy store.

"I'm just going to keep strengthening it," said Savard. "I got in a good little skate today with Houds [Coach Houda] and Bitzy and Beige for a bit, so like I said, it's still right on schedule and hopefully Friday's the day.

"It's been a tough stretch for me, that's for sure, so hopefully I can get back and play some good hockey."

All three men wanted to help the Bruins ASAP.

"Yeah we've got some good practices this week to get myself back into that flow and get ready," said Bitz. "We'll see how the rest of the week goes, but it's four days now on the ice and it's feeling good.

"There's a lot of games to play, so I'm not worried," said Begin. We know what we have to do, and if we do it well, we'll get ourselves in a better position.

"So it's coming."

"It's going to be an important stretch for us and I'm sure we'll see the better Bruins here for the latter part going into the Olympic Break," said Savard, who added, "You want to get back out there and change the tide. We've got time to think about it right now, which is a good thing sometimes.

"Hopefully we'll build something good."
