Rask, Sobotka & Krejci visited Mass General's Hospital for Children

B\'s Players Painted Pumpkins
Boston, MA -- It might be Halloween on Saturday, but this week Tuesday was a day for smiles and treats as Boston Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask and forwards Vladimir Sobotka and David Krejci made a heartwarming visit to a few special friends over at the Mass General Hospital for Children.

The players signed autographs and gave out Bruins goodie bags full of signed memorabilia and other great surprises to the children. The three Bruins also spent one-on-one time with the young patients as they decorated unique works of art on pumpkins -- of course!

As the players arrived, the kids watched players walk into their playroom with palpable anticipation, even as they waited patiently in their seats with paint brush in hand, ready for their Bruins pals to assist them in some seasonal arts and crafts.

Of course, the parents of the patients were also present with cameras in hand capturing the sentimental moments.

As one of the Bruins own resident kids, Tuukka Rask (just 22), is someone who is not shy about enjoying a little time recreating his childhood and instead of hockey gloves, Rask’s hands were covered in paint.

“It was fun. It was really fun,” said Rask, who had previously enjoyed his time participating in the Bruins annual toy drop. “You know that you can make their day coming here, and it’s fun to feel young again.

The B’s rookie laughed just as hard as the children who surrounded him as he helped them create their pumpkin masterpiece with his personal decorating buddy Jackson – one of the patients at Mass General.

“I really do enjoy my time here,” added the goalie, after a couple seconds thought.

Rask was asked what part of the day held his favorite moments.

“It was the pumpkin decorating that we did with the little kids,” said Tuukka. “I am not really an art person, but it was something to do [with the children] that was really fun.”

The parents were completely blown away with how well the players interacted with the kids.

“It is truly a rewarding moment sitting here and watching my son smile and laugh with the Bruins players,” said one parent. “This brings happiness to us knowing that the Boston Bruins can make a little boys day that much more special.”

Tuukka, Vladdy and David also visited patients who were unable to join the Bruins at the craft table.

“It feels good, I try to do good things [for people who aren’t as lucky] as we are,” said Rask.
